Ive played since the release of Red/Blue, but Ive never played competitively. I recall someone saying once you start you get hooked. Anybody here play? Got any tips for a gen wunner?

I love competitive Pokmon, but its exhaustingly time consuming. I went hard during gen VI and the beginning of VII, but I got burnt out and decided to take a break until Pokmon comes out on switch.

If you can put the ridiculous amount of work in on the front end, though, its a lot of fun until rng ruins everything for you.

I know this isn't exactly what you said but

https://play.pokemonshowdown.com/

Just play and battle on that website, it's a lot easier to make teams and fight others than playing on cartridge.

And if you really want to play on cartridge then that site is still helpful, since you can test teams before trying to build/train then on the actual game (just to see if the team is any good)

Don't bother with it on the actual games unless you can hack/gen Pokemon to avoid the hassle of breeding/raising perfect stats. Just play on PokemonShowdown.

This site is a godsend for people who want to try competitive battling and can't be bothered to train. (AKA me.)
