When I used to work at a pizza place we always rushed last minute orders. An order in the last 15 minutes usually meant having to stop closing procedures, redoing inventory count, additional restocking, additional clean up, etc. Glad I left that place.

Ive seen people be fired and/or written up over doing this sort of thing. Most businesses have a phone number posted outside the business to call in the event you received poor service. Being locked out of a business and refused service during business hours might rise to such an occasion to call.

And considering that most states give workers almost no rights the complainer will end up fired through a loophole. Just because we put a system in place to prevent abuse does not mean that it works well and isn't riddled with work around to make sure employees have little to no power.

It really doesn't matter what time they put. They put the closing time at 9:58, you're going to argue that it's still open and not closing up shop at 9:56. All you have to do use common sense and not enter a store that's about to close. Stores don't close at the flip of a switch.

What if I got stuck at work by my own employer and couldn't make it to the store until 9:58? What if I knew exactly where what I needed was, and could've sprinted in to get it and been in and out?

And guess what? If I'm in there when the clock strikes 10? Kick me out. Well within your rights. Your store is now closed and I have no business being there. It's not my fault your management thinks "performing closing operations" means business stops early.

WTF? he's saying that if the closing time of 10pm is getting too late because employees need to be home by 10:15 or whatever for some reason, then close the store at 9:30 so that customers will stop coming in after 9:30 allowing everyone to finish their closing work by 10.

If you have a sign that says you're open until 10, EXPECT people to come in and up until that time. No amount of bitching and whining at the customers is going to change that. Because that's standard practice, people will expect service and to be able to shop.

I find it interesting that you mention customers and people in the same sentence. Are they customers, or are they people? There's a huge difference.
