When I used to work at a pizza place we always rushed last minute orders. An order in the last 15 minutes usually meant having to stop closing procedures, redoing inventory count, additional restocking, additional clean up, etc. Glad I left that place.

Then change your closing hours to 15 minutes earlier.

If your store is open for business, expect to receive business.

Nah you can fuck off with this shit. I'm not going to argue or debate with you. Employees aren't in charge of closing hours or the consequences of going into overtime. But have fun with your delusional little world where you're going to receive quality service for being an ass.

I've seen restaurants state on the door that they stop seating at 9:30 due to closing at 10. Probably the best way to go about it.

The store isn't open at 9:58. The last few minutes are always spent closing up shop.

Then close the store at 9:58. If the store is open for business, it's open for business. You're screwing over the consumers by using business time to perform closing operations.

Conflict posted...
It's really not that hard to just come earlier or go somewhere else.

Ive seen people be fired and/or written up over doing this sort of thing. Most businesses have a phone number posted outside the business to call in the event you received poor service. Being locked out of a business and refused service during business hours might rise to such an occasion to call.

And considering that most states give workers almost no rights the complainer will end up fired through a loophole. Just because we put a system in place to prevent abuse does not mean that it works well and isn't riddled with work around to make sure employees have little to no power.

It really doesn't matter what time they put. They put the closing time at 9:58, you're going to argue that it's still open and not closing up shop at 9:56. All you have to do use common sense and not enter a store that's about to close. Stores don't close at the flip of a switch.

What if I got stuck at work by my own employer and couldn't make it to the store until 9:58? What if I knew exactly where what I needed was, and could've sprinted in to get it and been in and out?

And guess what? If I'm in there when the clock strikes 10? Kick me out. Well within your rights. Your store is now closed and I have no business being there. It's not my fault your management thinks "performing closing operations" means business stops early.

Conflict posted...
Because coming to the store right when it's about to close is a poor decision. I've gone to places right when they were about to close and was told "we're closed" and not once did I place blame on the employees because I know I could've just gone earlier

Sounds like a you problem.

Conflict posted...
We're not talking about 9:45, we're talking 2 mins before closing time.

Again, kick me out at 10.

Like, restaurant and retail jobs aren't even real jobs. You don't make a career out of it. The people that work them and are incredibly bitter and spiteful in their work prove to everyone why they are in their position.

Look, any day you get to have a job is s good day, remember that.

Apparently, something isn't a job unless you can make a career out of it.

"Any day you have a job is a good day". Let me guess, you're the kind of person who thinks employees should have to grovel at the foot of their boss for a bathroom break.

This topic has really shined a light on who has never worked a job before a day in their life

You're right, shit happens. Guess what? At 2 minutes to closing, we don't give a fuck. We want to go home. You just need to accept that and go elsewhere. WE. ARE . NOT. YOUR. SLAVES.

So close earlier.

We covered this yesterday. If you show up 11 minutes prior to closing, Aiden is fine serving you. 10 minutes or sooner prior to closing, and Aiden will refuse to work on the clock for you.

Fuck you. NOT what I meant AT ALL. Both of you can fuck off!

No, that's exactly what you said:

Waiting until the last minute to come into a store that's closing is fucking stupid. 10, 5, 2? Doesn't matter. Go find another store or fuck off. We want to clean up AND GO HOME.

Are you intentionally this fuckng stupid? Do you use your brain for ANYTHING?

WTF? he's saying that if the closing time of 10pm is getting too late because employees need to be home by 10:15 or whatever for some reason, then close the store at 9:30 so that customers will stop coming in after 9:30 allowing everyone to finish their closing work by 10.

If you have a sign that says you're open until 10, EXPECT people to come in and up until that time. No amount of bitching and whining at the customers is going to change that. Because that's standard practice, people will expect service and to be able to shop.

I find it interesting that you mention customers and people in the same sentence. Are they customers, or are they people? There's a huge difference.
