I clearly did.

https://slickdeals.net/f/10772655-sprint-essential-phone-5-m-with-flex-lease

You clearly exploited a pricing error and had to jump through a thousand hoops to do so and risk the phone being banned.

It's not a pricing error. Stop moving goal posts. I've been doing this for years. Hence why I have every single flagship phone and pay very little.

You obviously didn't read through all 10k comments, but the people who were blacklisted abused it by constantly upgrading again and again for dozens of phones. That will get you blacklisted everywhere.

The deal got so much popularity that now they've changed it $6/month with bill credits, which is still the same thing if you plan on staying. So it's still alive and less of a hassle if you're staying.

It's ok that you missed the deal. Don't get why you have to be so bitter about it.

Err, no.

1. I needed a new phone now and not in 50 days (cannot use sprint).

2. The current phone deal is a lease only. You have to give it back after 18 months unless you pay the difference between the lease and the full value.

3. I actually use the exclusive features of the Razer phone. If I didn't care about the exclusive features I'd have bought something cheaper like Pixel 2 or OnePlus 5T (Which also has the same processor as Razer's phone).

4. There are lots of reports of people who failed to unlock their phone and returned it without getting a refund, others who either didn't follow the steps properly or weren't processed properly by a CSM and had to pay upwards of $550 to get the phone. This is all in the comments that you claimed I didn't read.

Ok, I'll admit it wasn't a smooth deal and since I've been doing it for years, I always get it right and it takes me maybe 20 minutes to do, so I overestimated how others would see the deal.

Most of the issues are indeed user errors and I guess they lost a lot of money, hence why they've finally closed everything up. It was however a viable method to get cheap phones for years, and if anything, I was trying to put people on to these deals since only Sprint closed it. The other carriers had similar deals up till Christmas, and if it's ever through Best Buy, none of the pitfalls apply. I just got my friend a G6 from Best Buy for $120 just on Tuesday.

Looks and sounds really nice. Hopefully they have a sale on it in a few months. Might pick it up for those gaming features.

Have you by any chance tried ps4 remote play on it? Can the bootloader be unlocked without risking warranty?

Sure. I mean for people who feel like going the extra mile to save that kind of money and are okay with dealing with the inconveniences, whatever. Like, I think the Potato Masher gaming PC is a great idea, but it takes too much effort for me and I'd rather just spend a couple thousand dollars on quality factory new parts for a gaming PC (assuming all new, nothing reused from old machine).

But anyway, the bottom line is I ended up picking this phone for its exclusive features, not because of its price point. If you don't see the value in its exclusive features, that's a fine preference to have, but doesn't mean that there is literally no reason to get this phone over some other cheaper phone.

The bootloader is unlockable but there is no way to get root at the moment unless you wipe it and install a custom rom which defeats the purpose of buying this phone and may not even work.

Because Razer is Razer, I assume they will make it easy to get root in the future. They're probably just trying to minimize the amount of service requests they have to deal with early into the launch.

Eh, it's only if you're bad at following directions or a real novice. Ordering, getting the phone, and porting out is not exactly that hard. Not worth 5x worth (that is if we discounted the other features of the Razer, which I'm not). But I get your point because outside of phones, I pay premiums for shit I can't be bothered to put effort into all the time.

I never said there's no reason. I pointed what might be reasons, and you confirmed it (the extra features).

I'm definitely gonna grab this phone myself, so it's not like I don't like it.
