As for the alt right it's something that was embraced by a lot of Trump fans early on and was fully endorsed by Breitbart, reaching its peak probably during the whole "Establishment GOP guide to the alt right" written by Milo. Mind you this was while emails revealed that Milo was in direct contact with multiple white supremacists. All of which was endorsed by Bannon and the Mercers. And then Charlottesville and a literal neo Nazi march designed to "unite the right" happened resulting in a murder of a girl and numerous other attacks and people completely disavowed the term and pretended they never embraced it or defended places like The Daily fucking Stormer as "free speech satire".
