Never played terranigma and I don't remember anything about it, but I remember looking it up years ago and it looked pretty damn good.

Lufia 2 was repetitive, but also really good, and that post game RNG dungeon would have been worth playing as a standalone game, sort of like a jrpg Diablo. Top 3? I dunno. Close at least? Absolutely.

FF6 was my #1.

Yep. Plus the points of no return where if your character is one of the weaker ones for their area, even if you arrive well leveled you may still never progress without serious bs grinding and rngsus blessing you every step.

Wat? All I can think of is the Bloody Mary fight... otherwise it's pretty easy and smooth sailing where you don't have to grind and can just enjoy the game the entire way through.

Was also gonna say Terranigma is an adventure game with rpg elements... but nonetheless still one of the top 3 games for snes, in any genre.

i like paladins quest i just think its not as good as its sequel lennus 2 which we never got :(

and 7th saga is fun for the challenge it presents
and secret of the stars is my favorite so bad its good game.

ive talked about it before on CE but that game is so much fun for how badly made it is
i mean at one point you must fight the evil BADBAD and his army of BADMEN
you dont get quality writing like that in good games

There is plenty of story. They just let you discover it at your own pace instead of leading you by the hand. Each character has their own story arc to resolve when you find them (except Sabin, who is chillin holding up collapsing mansions like a bro).

i know about those games its just the only one i like in your list is secret of the stars
when i was a kid the convenience store in town rented snes games and secret of the stars was one of the ones for rent
every week id save up $1:75 and rent it for the weekend
man i played that game a ton
i even found the gold nail without a guide
