Pocahontas and Atlantis had white guys with women of color.
Princess and the Frog had a black woman with a biracial guy.
Lion King 2, Oliver and Company, and Zootopia had interracial allegories, but don't really count because they're animals.

Next 5 years? Next 10 years? Next 15?

Never because white females with non white males gets a far more negative response country wide than white man with various females. Why? I don't know.

But what if romance isn't at the forefront of the picture? What if it's about pirates or knights and the white female lead incidentally happens to share a romance with a friend of another ethnic group?

It actually would be enough to piss off alot of people, hell i remember people being really angry at Hancock because the white lead and the black lead had a history with each other before their new lives happened. Never mind that the movie made no sense the interracial prior relationship is what some people say they didn't like about it at least those brave enough to voice those opinions outloud.

True, it sells alot, lots of people loved it when John Smith took Pocahontas to England, but lots of people hated Tarzan for getting Jane, it's why it was even removed from Kingdom Hearts despite being a popular film. Well that and a black man speaking like a gorilla in certain scenes would be scene as racist.

Probably not for a long time. White women x non-White men seems to trigger the "general audience", especially if the guy is Black.

This is why there are many movies--some not even race-based--where a White guy hooks up with a non-Black woman, but barely any with the opposite, unless the film is actually about race (and even then, he still might not end up with her in the end).

This is why Will Smith in Hitch got with Eva Mendez instead of the White actress they originally wanted.
It's also why the main actor and actress in the film adaptation of The Pelican Brief simply hugged at the end, where in the book they outright had sex.
