The first one is a classic. The next two are unnecessary fluff, but fun to watch in a "I'll put on literally anything since its December " kind of way.

I remember basically nothing about 2. 1 was ok but I haven't seen it in so long I might feel differently today. 3 was pretty bad...

My dad, for whatever reason, loved the first one so this was one movie trilogy our whole family saw all three of in theaters. But I haven't seen 2 since.

The other trilogy was the Star Wars OT, but once 1 came out that was the end of that.

I loved it since I was a kid but everyone else in the car was like :| all the way home.

Was it me or was the third like focused too much on the family and then the actual conflict rushed to hell? Like the alternate world lasted like twenty minutes before it was fixed again.

It was probably mimicking It's a Wonderful Life in that regard. The majority of that film was the setup to the conflict.
