That's why RT, Metacritic, whatever that "prestigious" movie review site I've never heard of who "broke" this "story" was, and your theater chain's reviews all come out to around the same. It's totally not a 2-3/5 or a 5-6/10 guys! It's the best movie evar!

How much more evidence do we need that these user scores on metacritic/rottentomatoes are mostly bogus? Worse than TPM? LOL

99% of the complaints against TLJ are petty nitpicks.

I do truly believe there are a significant number of genuinely angry Star Wars fanatics who had it in their heads how they believed it should go and are staunchly opposed to where TLJ went. Thats fine. Its absolutely NOT half of the audience, lol.

And for what its worth, I (like many others) thought there was room for improvement with Finn/Rose, Poe, etc. It was still a good film though. The vast majority left either not caring about them or saying yeah, that part was kinda dumb, but overall I really liked it. The OUTRAGE is a vocal minority and 56% on RT is a joke.

It's not just that...

It's just obvious TLJ had a director that was very opposed to some of the things that were done in TFA, so he just killed some subplots and did his own thing. Maybe TLJ and TFA are both good movies on their own, but if you put them one after the other the end result is just bad.

Seriously, they shouldn't have two directors who disagree on so much be responsible for two consecutive movies in a trilogy.

That kind of territorial pissing is one of the big reasons why I never got into comics. There needs to be a central authority figure to say what's what instead of letting the individual writers and directors stumble over what's implied, what's canon, and what used to be something before it was unceremoniously dropped without resolution.

Unless I read the article wrong, RT is saying that there is no evidence that the guy tanked the scores with bots, and that he is just trying to get publicity of something.

The movie was goofy, that's why it has bad ratings. It wasn't a bunch of uneducated white men that came out of nowhere to down vote the movie.

But wait, wasn't that the exact same praise TFA received? Why is it that we can't call a turd a turd or something merely average average until a year has passed when it's Star Wars? This wasn't a good film at all. It beats TFA with it's own lifeless corpse, but that's not a good metric.

Edit, and for every single nitpicky review from a user I can find a 5* review from a critic praising the movie for it's "inclusivity" or "diversity" and having nothing to say about the movie or it's place in the franchise. (Ahead of TFA/RO, behind everything else.)

Rogue One and TFA both have solid user scores.

It is possible that The Last Jedi was bad enough to warrant these bad user scores. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of them are from people who normally don't review movies but hated it enough to go out of their way to do so, but that doesn't mean they're fake or alt-right reviews.

My favorite part of the article is where it says the guy who made that petition to have ep8 removed from cannon received death threats. Just. Wow.

I don't get all the conspiracies. It was an average af movie and they made some major changes that probably pissed off lots of people. I liked it overall, but I completely understand the issues.

This is like the people who think UFOs automatically mean it's alien. Maybe, just maybe, it's made by humans.
