The Internet has become a very different place, particularly with the amount of video content that gets streamed, and that evolution has turned it into a competitor for cable. It's only natural that the telecom companies that run both Internet and cable would restrict Internet to keep the dying cash cow that is cable alive. Really, I'd be a lot more okay with not having net neutrality if Internet wasn't run by cable companies. That's an extremely obvious conflict of interests, and one of the biggest driving forces for the sort of shenanigans net neutrality is meant to prevent.
