https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_Cuts_and_Jobs_Act_of_2017

- During 2019, each income group receives a tax cut relative to current law.

- However, starting in 2021 those earning $10,000-30,000 (24% of taxpayers) pay more in taxes.

- In 2023 and 2025, those earning $0-$30,000 (34% of taxpayers) pay more in taxes.

- In 2027, income groups below $75,000 (65% of taxpayers) pay more in taxes, while tax cuts remain for those earning over $75,000.

Additionally...

Implementing the Act would add an estimated $1.4 trillion to the national debt over 10 years

This is what I don't get about Republican politicians. They want to cut taxes, but only for the upper class? And then after years of complaining about how much debt Obama was racking up, they go off and pass a new tax code that will plunge us $1.4 trillion deeper into debt? What am I missing here?

Nothing, you seem to have a pretty good grasp of things.

The GOP are idiots and hypocrites. No integrity. Theyre just looking out for those who fill their pockets and couldnt care less about the ones who voted for them in the first place...sadly those people will keep voting for them because liberals and obama are literally Satan or something.

What does this have to do with how the current tax plan will impact us? Let's stop dealing with "what if" deflections or scenarios that haven't happened in reality.

He likely knows nothing about the plan outside of trump and the republicans like it so I do...thats his thing. Best to not give him attention.

A comment like that is intended to get people to realize their own biases and hopefully look at the current tax plan with a more open mind.

When you say "pay more in taxes", do you mean they will be paying more than they did before 2019, or just more than they did the prior year?

I'm assuming there's a reason our question isn't getting answered? My guess is that they will still be paying less overall than before 2019, but them getting to say "pay more" will trick people into thinking they are getting a bad deal.

I don't know. This stuff can be hard to follow because it's so convoluted. Don't really feel like reading through every detail but I'd love to know myself.

Pay attention to the dates. The GOP knows they'll lose in 2020, so the taxes start going up after then because they know the public will just blame their financial problems on the current administration.

I'm presuming it's all "relative to current law". The wording could suggest that's only for 2019, but I don't see that making as much sense.
