Everything is expensive as fuck. There's a bunch of vehicles and properties that cost more than what the most expensive ($100) shark card could buy you. You're obviously aware of yachts so you know that but it's only gotten worse.
They recently added in the Lazer, the basic bitch jet you can steal from the military base, and it's like 6.5m dollars and all you can do is paint it... The Hydra is like half that, and there was a recent DLC that added a bunch of weaponized planes with the ability to deploy flares, you can't even put those on it, so you'll likely get shot down in 2 seconds.

There's a flying bike and Knight Rider car tho so

To be honest with you I havent played since before the yacht update but I heard about it. I know the hydras and stuff were super popular to grief people but I could never aim those things to save my life so I never bothered. Everyone else seemed to be pros though.

Oh well the Yacht with all options is like 15m or something and it's virtually useless. You chose a stationary point for it to be in the water and have to pay to move it, and there's not really anything to do on it. You can turn anti air on (which forces you into passive mode) and it'll automatically shoot anyone flying over your yacht down.
I guess it works as a hangout place in a public lobby or for roleplaying? It's really just a glorified apartment thought.
There's CEO offices now that can range all the way up to over 20m if you get everything. The Maze bank one, highest end interior, 60 car garage, built in shop, etc. But at least it offers a way to make money, you have to drop millions more on cargo and vehicle warehouses but they'll make money.... eventually...

Most notably they've made big push to forcing you into public lobbies. All the businesses require you to pay money, source, and eventually sell things in a public lobby, with you highlighted on the map for everyone to see while you're doing it. It's next to impossible in public lobbies because everyone just wants to grief you.
I usually just glitch into an empty public lobby and do them with my gf. Even without people it's a fucking grind to do. If you don't have a group to back you up in public lobbies and don't want to glitch you pretty much have to stick to grinding Pacific Standard, which if you don't have a group is impossible with randoms anyways so you're still fucked.

They also added some hot wheels type taxes and Sonic Racing Transformed type races, they're pretty fun if you're into racing in GTA.

Idk, there's been a lot of fun new content, but it's a grind from hell to get, even more than before. Luckily I have a good pool of money from back when I'd grind Pacific Standard with my gf and two of her friends, especially during double money and when the karuna glitch still worked.
They stopped playing though so we've both had the finale ready to go again because it's impossible to find 2 people who can do it lol.

It's gotten extremely bad. If my gf and I didn't have as much racked up as we do we wouldn't keep playing it it as our fuck around game. We mostly just do gridding here and there to try to maintain what we have for the next DLC that comes.
Even then it's easy to blow money on shit you'll never use again. There's this big ass plane that was the most expensive with the last update, I bought it accidentally mistaking it for another one that's a few hundred k less, and it's completely useless, I'll never use it again and it can't be sold.

If you don't have friends to play with for fucking around and the ability to glitch into a solo public lobby, don't bother with it. Luckily on PS4 there's an unpatchable way to do it, and on PC it's probably easy. Don't know what you'd do on Xbox though.

And just to put it into Shark Card numbers, I think the last DLC added 75m worth of stuff, which if you hypothetically just wanted to buy with real money would cost like $900.

I've been having a lot of fun with it. Not too hard to find people to squad up with to do jobs. Almost every lobby has a modder in it, but they're usually not being a dick.

It's the same game it's been for the past year and a half, except with an even bigger emphasis on military vehicles and air planes.

Recently they released Transform Races. Basically during the race you hit a checkpoint and your vehicle transforms into another one.

I haven't played for a couple months now, but I check in on GTAForums occasionally. The latest scuttlebutt is that there is supposed to be one last big DLC coming in the next month or so before they slow down in order to focus on RDR Online.

I didn't want to play with randoms anymore, but my crew was more active than me because of my job. Eventually they kicked me for inactivity. They had a rule to where you had to level once a week to prove you were active.

Wasn't a hard thing to do, but meh. Life.

Yeah and no reason to stop, they're making over a billion a year on shark cards alone. The CEO or whatever even said in an interview recently that he doesn't think they're price gouging the player base lol. They also said there was never a single player DLC because they either didn't think it was necessary or possible. As if everyone doesn't know the real reason is "well single player DLC is a lot more work than just making a car or something and it doesn't make us as much money..."

It's why when the EA thing happened and Take Two and Activision didn't take a hit like EA I was laughing my ass off. Take Two has gotten just as scummy with GTA but somehow avoided backlash by saying "but it's technically free!" and just because it's GTA I guess.

Despite all that, it can still be fun in short bursts or at least one friend with you, just don't expect to be able to buy any new stuff without grinding to death or just quitting your job and making GTA your 9-5.
I can't wait till the update where they add a patty flipper job you can work 9-5 real time in to make virtual minimum wage and somehow you'll have to pay a few million dollars to unlock the ability to flip the patties...

It's alright when you have someone who can manipulate the public lobbies and keep randoms out. That way you can do all the content without cheaters / Hydra bitches.

Unfortunately R* has just been handing out shitloads of military hardware and comical vehicles, instead of meaningful gameplay. Back when the game released, having a supercar like the Zentorno pretty much trivialized almost everything the game could throw at you.

They really, really need the next update to be something meaningful, like a Gang Turf system that actually encourages people to be Associates/MC Members, instead of literally everyone in the session doing their own business.

It really would be. The map is great, there's lots of fun content and potential for just fucking around, but they've made it such a way where nobody cares about fun. You either want to grind endlessly or fuck over people trying to grind endlessly just to be an asshole.
All the game modes are almost useless now too, you can barely get anyone to join older ones because everyone is just grinding whatever is double money and if there isn't one then they're doing whatever the go to grind is instead. I used to have fun with that mode that was semis vs bicycles but it's almost impossible to get anyone to accept an invite for it.

It's only fun when you're in a private room with friends. Playing in public rooms is just a headache due to griefers. With how expensive everything is you have to have no life and grind and grind forever to get stuff. People with no life or kids with their parents debit card get all the goodies and just grief everyone else. Not fun.

Do you still get penalized for destroying personal vehicles? I know that was the big hot button issue back in the day when I still played.

Yeah, you'll eventually get put in a bad sport lobby. On top of many vehicles now costing like 50k ton insurance for destroying. Your icon also slowly gets more red and the redder it gets players will get more RP for killing you, if they care about that.

If you're on PS4 and feel like playing sometime, I might be able to. I play at weird hours though and usually with just my gf so no idea if our schedules would ever actually line up.

Not exactly, yes you'll get bad sport points. The red he's talking about is your mental state, not necessarily related. Killing cops, players etc will make your dot red. Watch your player stat. If it starts saying dodgy instead of clean, be careful

One thing I always liked to do is not attack anyone, but drive by and see if they'd try to attack me. I'd never shoot or attack, just creep close in the hopes that they'd chase so I could put my getaway skills to the test.

Yeah, occasionally there's a glitch in the matrix and some people end up in your lobby. If you have enough people and it's only one you can vote to kick, or just make another.

Oh yeah, I should clarify. Mental state has to do with mayhem in general, but blowing up cars can contribute to it pretty quickly. Just short player killing spree can have you dark red, which may or may not make you a target depending on the people in the lobby and if they care.

Bad sport is still real though, stupidly enough. Not like it works anyways, everyone are still assholes in public lobbies.

I do a similar thing, but I play bumper cars with people without telling them that's the game. Usually they catch on.

Yeah that's a lot harder to do now because so many cars are weaponized and people have seemingly only gotten more paranoid. A long time ago I'd sometimes fly really high in my buzzard and hover over their dot and follow them so they could see my dot right on their ass but not see my heli because I was so high. That occasionally was hilarious, especially if they'd hop on their mic about it.
