The "story" bits of LU are vastly overproduced, yet still awful somehow.

What do you mean writers? WWE is a real sport. Jack Swagger and Cesaro are true alpha men like the admiral and me.

Eh. HHH and Stephanie would basically just take over. I dont see much changing. Theyre already fully involved as it is.

They're just going to hire more Hollywood writers who know nothing about wrestling and who just want the job to pad their resume so it won't be any different.

Plus, like what's already been said, Vince is still there. I still expect WWE to be more of the same when he passes on and HHH and Steph take over. HHH is a little more old school oriented, but he's still going to do everything the WWE way for the most part. Stephanie is going to have a hand in it too and she's terrible and only is where she is today cause she's Vince's kid.

Probably should. What's the viewership like anyway?

Ratings are going down but theyre still making money. Overall, the quality of wrestling has gone up, but the stories have been kind of awful since the start of the PG era.

Theyre trying to call it a new era but for that to happen, they really need to bump it to PG-13.

I mainly only watch the PPVs and TakeOvers though. Watch the Ups/Downs on YT to get the weekly shows cause most of the shows are meh.

I still feel that if a wrestling promotion presents the product in a serious way (like it was a real sport) it would do better than how it is now. It would still need some money behind it also. Obviously it will never get how it used to be though.

The problem is most promotions only really cater to the hardcore wrestling nerd fans who like video game like moves that are obviously choreographed before hand and stupid, silly, and obviously phony gimmicks. Wrestling is now a silly spectacle. Everyone wants to be WWE sports entertainment instead of professional wrestling.

Of course it was always somewhat silly, but you could still take it seriously enough to really get into it.

No, the delusion is yours, lol. They survived the early 90s when they couldn't even pay their workers what they should have been paying them, and then BOOM!, Attitude Era

WWWF wasn't doing too well when Vince Jr bought it from his dad with Backlund as champ, then BOOM! Hulkamania!

Wrestling always goes up and down, it's only staying down right now because an old piece of shit will not step down. Just look at other wrestling in the world, people are making more money working for Indie companies then they are with the WWE. Wrestling is far, FAR from dead.

The sad thing is that New Japan is exactly like a "real sport" because because of places like ROH and PWG, they think New Japan is about all these crazy spots and no selling either, but it's not. Their Juniors can be like that, just like the CWs were in WCW, but they still work smartly for the most part. I'm fine with those sorts of matches having a place on a card since Pro Wrestling should be a variety show - And New Japan is fucking perfect right now. I really wish more people would watch it over the WWE and see what is really out there.

Agreed. Vince's ego is the main thing that's dragging down WWE.

You may be right if we're only talking about WWE's main roster. But even so, I'd argue that the world of pro wrestling as a whole hasn't been this good since the Monday Night Wars. NJPW's popularity outside of Japan is skyrocketing, and Bullet Club shirts are the best-selling wrestling shirts in the entire world. ROH is doing quite well for itself. Mexican promotions like AAA (plus Lucha Underground by extension) and CMLL are gaining popularity too. TNA... well, at least they're not dead yet. And of course, NXT might be the most consistently entertaining wrestling show in the world, a huge contrast from the main WWE shows.

Good point. Indy guys just see things that look cool and take it and use it elsewhere without thinking about the context in which the cool stuff was used. Wrestlers and fans just see stuff that was cool, but forget everything else like wrestling psychology and selling. It's why flippy crap and silly gimmicks and spots have taken over wrestling.

It's like how some indy guys would use Kenta Kobashi's Burning Hammer (or other Puro finishers) as just a regular move. They just saw how cool it was without seeing the context of it being Kobashi's strongest finishing move that was only used a handful of times ever and only when nothing else could put his opponent down.

I personally am not a big puro guy, but I wish NJPW all the success in the world.
