A similar fall in global perception of the USA was seen following the re-election of George W. Bush, when the USA fell to seventh place. Previously, America has never stayed outside the top ranking for more than a year at a time: it will be interesting to see whether this holds true in the 2018 ranking.

Wesern is defined by governmental style and not geolocation. "Western Nations" basically follow the Roman style of Republic with some modifications.

My point is that he may have a bit of bias when considering where Germany stands on the list and how far the US should fall, especially since the aggregate rating doesn't actually reflect the categorical ones on a 1:1 basis (or Canada would have taken the top spot).

Not the best country to live in, just which has the best global reputation.

Keep those statistics hidden, downplay crimes, etc. Get more tourists to bring money and keep your country looking like place which has their shit together. Also, take huge amount of refugees actually likely helped Germany to boost their ranking.
