He's always had the power, but he assumed it was the hammer that gave it to him, when it was really just to "help him control it" or whatever it was Odin said.

Yeah a few

Valkyrie girl did basically nothing fighting wise despite her supposedly being an elite soldier.

And Hela only got to fight thor for like 2 minutes before getting insta killed. They hype her up the whole goddamn movie to literally kill her in one shot in like 10 seconds. Lame. Let her and powered up thor duke it out for at least like 5 minutes or something.

I thought the resolution was somewhat weak but I can't think of how else they would resolve it with how powerful they made Hela. Thor's powers manifesting without his hammer holding him back or whatever probably should have been forshadowed in another movie at some point as well.

Other than that, great movie, those are pretty small issues when it comes down to it. I also agree that the trailer really undersold the movie, at least my perception of it anyway. I wasn't at all that excited to see the movie but it turned out to be one of my favorites.

You're gotta be kidding. We already saw the shitshow fight scene that was Superman vs Zod in Man of Steel, and how it just kept going on and on and on and on. Thor Ragnarok mentioned several times that Thor can not defeat Hela, so it was smart of him to work as a team to take out her soldiers, save the Asgardians and manipulate OP Surtr into wrecking Hela. He even needed Loki's help to save the day, which showed he did love and rely on him after all they'd been through and it allowed Loki to also have his own characted arc of redemption. I'm glad they did it that way. The movie had the balls to go in a different direction and not have Thor be his usual dumb self, who only knows how to bash at things.

I love that Dr Strange made an appearance, that was great.

My biggest concern is they only slight dipped into Planet Hulk/World War Hulk story and marginalized how much Hulk grew in both power and character from the comics.

World War Hulk is one of the strongest characters in the marvelverse and that difference was basically ignored.

the fighting was the one thing people praised about MoS. And it was definately lame to reveal Thor's powers to only have him use it once and then immediately give up. They could have ended the movie exactly the same and I would have been happy. Just give a chance for Hela to actually prove she's as powerful as they were saying. All they had her do was beat up nameless, faceless jobbers. Like for real Thor vs Hulk got more screen time than Thor vs THE MAIN VILLAIN

Hela didn't get enough screentime for her being the "big bad".

Karl Urban's character seemed underdeveloped and his sacrifice was clich and didn't have any weight behind it

Not all of the jokes landed, but that's expected of any comedy.

Action scenes were kind of mediocre

Still a great movie though

But for real though, they should've left out that dual wielding part. 5 seconds after he started shooting I was thinking he should've been out of ammo with that short ass magazine

And then he kept on shooting for about 30 more seconds. I can suspend my disbelief when it comes to Hela pulling out an endless number of spears of various sizes from her body but he was using normal guns

There's a few criticisms I have with the movie, but overall I really loved it.

The CGI on Hela looked bad during her fight with the warriors of Asgard. It was fine elsewhere.

two of the Warriors Three basically just there to die

The whole time is different didn't really make sense.

Pretty much just nitpicks.

I feel like I didn't really care about the Grandmaster and his little world too much. I would've rather most of the movie being about Thor and Loki's relationship to Hel than about the brothers and the gang escaping from the planet.

The comedy was on point though.

I more or less thought all the jokes were funny, but I do agree it was odd when someone would joke about really serious stuff (like Asgard blowing up). Also while I guess Thor might not have necessarily known the Warriors 3 were dead, he could easily assume since they weren't among the survivors, so it seems like he should've acknowledged it. And someone should have said, "Hey, where's Sif?" at some point.

Minor complaints though, I loved it. Winter Soldier and Civil War are my top two MCU films but I'm torn between this and the first Guardians for my number three. Super fun movie.

Korg (rock guy) and the Banner bridge scene was hilarious wtf. I even expected Banner not to transform but the execution was still amazing.

The joke after Asgard couldve been done without. But I liked Hela although yeah, she couldve had an extended battle scene with Thor. Maybe two minutes with reg Thor then five minutes with powered up Thor. I didnt mind how she went out as it was creative and its not definite that she died anyways.

It was an overall good movie but it had some problems.

Hela and Loki all just pass by the Cosmic Cube and are like "meh" I guess it's possible for Loki to have stolen it off Camera and then get Surtr to destroy Asgard anyway instead of using it to wipe Hela out of existence because he'd totally do that, but there is no excuse for Hela to just leave it laying there.

Thor gets shocked with a thing to the neck and that totally takes him out instantly.

Valkyrie does nothing

Heimdall does nothing

Loki's acting skills dramatically degraded since fooling Thor as Odin in Thor 2

Zero explanation as to why Thor is back in Asgard after he supposedly left to go be with Jane

Zero explanation as to how Hulk got to Sakaar (no you cannot just fly there in a jet)

Dr. Strange only in the movie to make bad teleportation and beer jokes
