He now has 20 hours left to make this a reality. So suffice it to say he lied. It really is too bad if you are bad at your job, and a distraction by being a traitor that you aren't guaranteed a job.

His lawyer was so sure that teams would overlook Kaepernick's inability to read a defense or do anything other than pull the ball down and run when his first option was covered if they made threats. I would love to see 32 general managers/coaches go into detailed analysis of why Kaepernick isn't a fit for their team under oath. 4 personnel people from different teams have already done that anonymously and it was hilarious to read.

My favorite thing about the whole Kaepernick debacle is when profootballtalk said that NFL owners had no right to deny Kaepernick employment in his chosen profession. Who is going to bring in a backup QB that will alienate a chunk of your fanbase?

Yes. I like you hope there was "collusion" and all 32 owners say the same thing in their emails of why he can't play.

"We can't let him in our league because he's an embarrassment that stares down his first option like the first time a teenage male sees a girls rack, can't read a defense, and when anything remotely goes long he tucks and runs inevitably picking us 7 yards on third and 10 causing another 3 and out and forcing us to punt"

That would be lovely.

I think Kaepernick is "fine"

Not a guy who should have any place thinking his raw skill will make him a lock to get a starting job though. He'd be a modest upgrade over the weaker QBs in the league and that's about it. Probably not great for locker room morale too for a few reasons so yeah even ignoring the whole alienating the fanbase thing he's arguably not worth a pickup even for the teams who do have weaker QBs.

As a 49er Fan I am still pissed off that Kaep was ever made the starting QB.

I can't think about that situation without getting mad.

Alex Smith was amazing.

Alex Smith carried the team on his goddamn back LESS THAN A YEAR BEFORE making HUGE plays in the playoffs.

Alex Smith is STILL holding it down as a solid QB and Kaep is doing jack shit.

Not to open wounds here. But you know if you would have kept Top 1 you have won at least 1, maybe two Super Bowls?

If Williams hadn't fumbled returns TWICE in the SAME GAME we would not have lost to the Giants the previous year and would have at least been to that superbowl.

This topic is too much for me.

i mean, on the flipside, Flacco is now worse than such luminaries as Trevor Siemian, Mike Glennon, and Jacoby Brissett

San Francisco just traded for a QB who is probably the future of their franchise.

They'll be up off the mat much sooner than the Ravens

As someone who still follows the Broncos cause they gave my boy a ring on the way out.....

He is NOT worse than Trevor Siemian.
Trevor is completely useless at everything this year and has a god level team around him the past 2.

Pretty sure San Fran would have beat us in the Super Bowl that year. We were lucky enough to get past Baltimore. If I remember correctly SF had a beast D-Line with Justin and Aldon Smith that year which is pretty much Patriot kryptonite

Anyway, I said at the time that choosing Kaep over Smith was a huge mistake. The 49ers were great as a Run and Defense team with a low turnover, efficient QB. But Kaep wanted to be the focal point and the defense and running game suffered from it. He pretty much cost them the NFC Championship against Seattle, and then regressed every year after that and look where they are now.

No, he's right. Flacco is straight ass this year and is playing like he doesn't care. I think he's close to last in every major QB stat right now, except for Ints which I think he is second.

Still worth it though for the ring. Just need to cut our losses with him instead of dragging this out for another few years.

I think Kaepernick has every right to protest the way he chooses to.

But the people who think he's being blackballed are totally ignoring the meritocracy of the NFL. If Kaep was good enough, he would have a job right now. NFL Owners are willing to overlook a SHITLOAD of negative PR if you're good enough. Kaepernick isn't. He's not a good quarterback. Maybe he's a serviceable backup, but why should you ask any of these owners to take such a PR hit for a maybe serviceable backup.

If it makes you feel better I doubt that Kaep-less 49s would have taken the Packers out 2 years in a row. He had a way of somehow making Capers defense look like more of a dumpster fire than it already was.

No,
I'd still hate him.... BUT the NFL would still employ him. Because a great player is worth the distraction. A horrible player (which Kaep is) isn't worth distraction.

Meh, there's not a huge skill difference and Brock is way less of a PR concern. Like sure Kaep is probably better than most back-ups but not enough better to be worth it. Also I don't think he can run a traditional offense, although he could fit in Houston's system now.

Yeah. He has flashes for sure.

But it can't be reiterated enough how Indianapolis handled drafting a franchise all time QB the worst way conceivable. That being say fuck the offesive line and secondary, and getting rid of our good running backs, and drafting tons of WIdeouts....

I don't blame Brissett at all.
