In terms of getting "in trouble", I deposited an $8.5 million check at the local branch rather than sending it to the main branch. Sending it to the main branch would enable it to clear faster, but I didn't know this and I wasn't told to do this either. The manager then lied to the owner and claimed that she told me to do that, just to save herself.

Yes actually, the next year, but it was for a variety of reasons and I don't know if that situation was one of them.

Didn't "try hard enough" to track down a witness that had fled the state for an important case.
Nobody could find her and boss wanted to get me fired for it.

Worst mistake - but its not my fault. I was sent out to a cart that sells snacks at the Winchester mystery house. I was not properly trained on the popcorn machine. It caught fire then I put it out with the fire extinguisher.

I wasn't fired. I just wasn't allowed to make popcorn ever.

26 stitches across indext and middle finger on my left hand. I had just started training to be a butcher and all the other cutters went for a cig break and told me to finish before joining them. I got distracted for a split second. Knife went right across both fingers. I had to wear the mesh glove for months after that. Lol.

Negligence, resulting in one of my techs sawing through an energized spring. Once we cut through it, the remaining portion "sprung" propelling a 25 lb piston laterally about four feet until it hit and left a huge ass dent in the wall.

If the part was facing the other direction it would've caused some serious damage to another nearby machine, and if someone happened to be standing in the line of fire they'd at least have several broken ribs if not worse. We chalked it up as a "near miss"

Several meetings involving numerous managers, managers managers, and vice presidents with much coal-raking later, we now have lots of procedures in writing, policies, and safeguards to prevent this from happening ever again, because if it does I am indeed fired.

Showing initiative and asking for more responsibility/more wage (grossly overqualified/underpaid for current job)

Result? Job title change and wage reduction.

Yeah, they dont like me there

Theyre hiring two people to take over my position. Both starting salary higher than me. I facetiously asked if i could apply for half of my job at the hightened wage, and was told to "watch it".

Yeah. Well, what boss said was that I didn't warn her. I should have let her know not to talk to me like that or I will disconnect. I just disconnected, so fair next. whatever.

She was off the handle tho.

Standing up for myself at my first job and calling my boss out on the fact that she was deliberately trying to hold me back in my position because I was so good at it and really didn't want me to move up due to the drop in quality. She made my job hell after that for the next year until I left and then tried to run my name through the mud. She never wants people to fall out of line, and if you do, she will hold a lifelong grudge against you. Needless to say, that whole department burnt down to the ground after I left and she ended up quitting her job after drama over that.

from an entire business perspective, the worst mistake I ever made was probably forgetting to fill out my timesheet one pay period.

I had some personal time off the day it was due and I forgot to have it done before leaving and it was literally just blank. I didn't realize it at the time, and when I came back, nobody said anything to me about it. Then when I went to go enter in my time for the current pay period, I saw that the previous pay period was totally blank.

Now "nothing happened" and "I'm still employed" are both facts, but I know that behind the scenes the directors and CTO get yelled at by the CFO when shit like this happens and that's a pretty serious deal because it causes issues with the CFO's schedule and payroll deadlines--and the biggest one being that none of the work I did for that whole period got billed appropriately, but I still get a paycheck.

From a technical standpoint, I've accidentally done things with adhoc queries to lock down the database and that causes all our applications to basically stop working for a few minutes and DBA or CTO has to go in behind me and kill my shit.

Don't know how that's doing something "just to save herself", sounds like she took a pretty big hit for you.

Maybe you misread, but the owner was getting upset with the manager first for the "error", so she claimed she was innocent and placed the blame entirely on me (and my boss).

No, she lied to claim that she told us to deposit it at the right branch when she in fact did not. She tried to make it seem like she gave us the right instructions but made it out as if I disregarded her and just deposited it at whatever branch I wanted.
