That's not a bad idea, just create a small addition and use amazon key on the door. But I don't order enough from amazon to make it worth it.

seems like you have to buy $250 kit that includes a camera to start doing this.

Overall, I don't think it's that unsafe. I think Amazon is the one taking on a shit ton of risk. It says that it's not recommended to use it if you have a dog in the house... I wonder how many customers would heed that warning.

All I can think about when doing this is that my dog would run straight past the delivery person and into the streets.

From the looks of it, Amazon Key requires you to have a camera already set up.

The camera makes this not as awful an idea as I imagined, but what if the camera isn't working? Will you or Amazon know this and be able to disable the key lock immediately?

What a pointless question. Everything in life has a chance of failing. "What if the steering on your car stops working?"

It's not designed to "stop working" but it, like everything else in life has a miniscule probability of failing.

Are there special drivers for in-home delivery?

Amazon Key in-home deliveries are carried out by some of the same professional drivers who you trust to deliver your Amazon orders today. These individuals are thoroughly vetted, with comprehensive background checks and motor vehicle records reviews.

It's not a pointless question and your analogy is dumb. You do realize safety precautions are a thing, right? "Everything in life has a chance of failing" won't be in their terms of service or privacy policy.

why dont they just make a special mailbox/room that can only be opened by the home owner and amazon couriers without having to enter the house? like those mailboxes on the apartments.

I imagine something like that would cost a lot more to manufacture to cover the various shapes and sizes packages come in.

Not to mention they would probably be a small fortune to have someone install it.

It is a stupid question because a camera failing is the least of your worries. If your camera isn't working one day get it fixed. Not hard

Seems pretty reasonable and useful for more than just deliveries. Not something I'd be interested in since I live in a good neighborhood 5 minutes from work, but I can see the appeal and seems like the "danger" or whatever is being drastically overblown.

They would get their ass fired so fast. Amazon wouldn't want to lose the customers who feel like that's even a threat.

The camera is your insurance. Why do you think it comes with the smart lock genius?

It's the answer when a potential thief asks himself why shouldn't I steal something?

Hmm...
I'd do it but they aint got this in my city

You watch them on amazon app then unlock and lock the door. The amazon Employee just puts your packages inside.

They already take pics where they left the packages when I'm not home. I'd let them in. I had $1000 worth of product sitting outside my door where everyone can see this past week. I didn't get home til late evening and was worried about it

I don't see why they don't force the Amazon worker to wear a body cam instead. Why would I want a camera in my house that Amazon and other sources might have access to?

It's your camera, only you can view it. Amazon just has the ability to make it record while the delivery is being made.

Q11. Who can view my Cloud Cam clips?

Only you or people you have shared your account information with can view your clips, unless you choose to submit a clip to us directly for troubleshooting.
