What on earth made them decide to cut it down to 4.

I'm playing this week for the first time in at least 8 years and I'm so confused as to why Quarterbacks are essentially nerfed.

Because they're the only position that routinely gets 20+ points.

Your QB has to throw 300 yards and at least 2 TDs to get over 20 points. It's so much easier for every other position to get that.

I mean, it doesn't matter what the QB has to do to get to 20, or even 15. The fact is that QBs already score more than any given WR/RB/TE. Why do you want them to get more, exactly?

QB pts are already over the top. Honestly it should be +4 for TD -4 for an INT. Scoring is absurd in fantasy

Should be -6 for INT's. >_> 6 pts TD, -6 for INT.

Because they are by far the most important position.

And again, they already score more points. What would making them score even more accomplish besides making fantasy heavily skewed in favor of QBs?
http://games.espn.com/ffl/leaders?&seasonTotals=true&seasonId=2016

This is standard scoring for last year. 18 of the top 20 scorers were QBs. Including the likes of Blake Bortles, Philip Rivers, and Marcus Mariota. David Johnson had to have over 2,000 total yards from scrimmage and 20 TDs to even come close to the top QBs. Not only are QBs the high scorers, but they're plentiful. All increasing the QB point total would do is make the power disparity even greater, when it's already great enough.

ExTha is right. It's so stupid they don't count for 6. Since they actually count for 6 in the game.

I play in a league that does this and QBs end up with way too many points. A three TD passing game is a pretty common occurrence in the NFL. One player scoring that many times individually is a rarity.

Then 4 pts for the receiver and 2 for the qb. Last time i checked you dont get 12 points in the NFL for a TD, but your fantasy model scores it as such

I do this in my leagues but I also make interceptions -3 points too. It really powers up the QBs though but it also makes QBs outside of the top 3 less valuable because anyone can get you decent points.

I can understand that Peyton and Brady were "centralizing the metagame" for a while there if you wanna put it in competitive video game terms but...

then that was just making somebody spend a really high pick on them back when running backs were at such a premium.

It was fair since if you went for one of the three or so QBs who were above the rest, you sacrificed getting a good running back in return and would have to play trades/waivers well.

I'm not playing this year and haven't done the new scoring, but it sounds like this new attempt to normalize all the scoring to be closer together kinda kills strategy and mainly helps those that only want to spend 5 minutes on their team a week.

TBH I always thought the correct play was get WRs/RBs first and then go for a QB in the fifth/sixth, preferably one that could break out

Like I think last four years I got Luck (his 42 TD season) Cam (his MVP Season) Bortles (oops) and Mariota (Pretty solid and I picked him up midway through last season!)

This is the case, because those positions have a much bigger reliability drop after the first few as opposed to qb.

Yeah, that's the usual way to go about it.

Occasionally somebody would go big on an elite QB and then try to play trades/waivers to their favor.

It feels like the change is just going to make that "occasionally" never happen, though, so teams will just be more cookie cutter.

Granted, I think I went with Rodgers in my first try hard Year 2nd round and won so meh

Granted I got really lucky with my WRs (Mike Wallace and Brandon Lloyd their breakout year in addition to Greg Jennings)

that means you won because of your position players and has nothing to do with the QBs.
