...because no one will hire him.

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/21035352/colin-kaepernick-files-grievance-nfl-owners-collusion

So this guy kneels during the national anthem and gets the attention he was seeking from it, then opts out of his own contract, and changed his stance to standing for the anthem - even though numerous other players are currently kneeling during the anthem? AND they still have jobs, wow!

People aren't entitled to jobs solely because they are qualified for them. That's not how businesses work. The owners are within their legal rights by not hiring him, as was he when he began protesting. A lot of people think that him not being hired is racist somehow while black players are the majority in the NFL.

HE OPTED OUT OF HIS OWN CONTRACT, THE THING THAT GUARANTEES THE NFL WILL PAY YOU TO PLAY FOOTBALL FOR THEM.

C'mon man.

tl,dr: Dude is hiring an attorney to sue NFL owners for not hiring him - even though they have the right to not hire him - after he himself willingly opted out of a 20+ million dollar NFL contract.

I think its pretty obvious he has a case, with the slew of garbage QBs in the league. Having that been said, to prove it, one of the owners has to rat or they have to find confirmation in an email or something. its far-fetched and hes probably not gonna get anything out of it, if only because of the degree of evidence needed, but if they find evidence, then this whole CBA would be voided, which would be huge

He opted out of a contract that would have him in the NFL until 2020. He's filing a grievance because no team in the NFL will hire him for any QB position here and now in 2017, starting or backup, which is stated in the grievance. These are all facts, so please explain how I don't know what I'm talking about.

Here's four of them:

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/18808233/san-francisco-49ers-released-colin-kaepernick-opt-out
But even if Kaepernick hadn't exercised that option, he wouldn't have been back with the 49ers under the terms of his current contract. General manager John Lynch told SiriusXM radio on Thursday afternoon that the team would have released Kaepernick had he not elected to opt out.

"Kaep is going to opt out," Lynch said. "We had a great conversation with him. We had a great meeting, and I think we had a very frank and honest discussion, and what we both agreed was that under the current construct of the situation, everything, the contract, it wasn't going to work."

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/the-49ers-wouldve-cut-colin-kaepernick-if-he-hadnt-opted-out-of-his-contract/
Many believed that Kaepernick was going to be released anyway had he not voluntarily removed himself from the roster and, in an interview with Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, 49ers GM John Lynch confirmed as much.

"Yes, and we had that conversation with him. So I don't want to characterize it as he made a decision to leave here.

https://www.si.com/nfl/2017/05/31/colin-kaepernick-49ers-release-opt-out-john-lynch
... I think weve been very up front with it...Yes, he was not going to be here under the construct of his contract. We gave him the option, You can opt out, we can release you, whatever. And he chose to opt out, but that was just a formality.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/05/31/john-lynch-49ers-would-have-cut-kaepernick-if-he-hadnt-opted-out/
One of the popular narratives regarding Colin Kaepernicks lingering unemployment is that he has only himself to blame after opting out of his 49ers contract. This flawed assumption overlooks the fact that the 49ers would have cut Kaepernick if he hadnt opted out.

HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT?!?!? some of you have said in response. Heres how. 49ers G.M. John Lynch said so on Wednesday, in a PFT Live interview to be aired later this week.

Yes, Lynch said regarding whether Kaepernick would have been cut if he hadnt opted out.

Straight from the 49ers GM himself. Kaepernick opting out didn't matter at all. Not. One. Bit.

No

Kaepernick has shown that he can run a pro-style offense and Tebow shown that he was wholly incapable of running a pro-style offense.

His career is over, simply because of his selfish political opinions. Good riddance.

He literally tried to be a snowflake and asked himself what the most serious way to publicly disrespect the country (plus the racist message) was, and he's mad that nobody wants to hire him?

I can't wait until he loses the case and becomes some loser who just lurks social media

What will be interesting is whether the NFL in their defense points out that a team's brand is a critical part of player selection and regardless of how well he may play, if he causes fewer people to buy tickets then that is justification enough to not contract him.

Not necessarily. The argument would be that each team individually that turned him down did so because it would hurt their ticket sales. You don't need to collude to have a similar reason to reject something, and if he's going to argue that he's "good enough" to play pro then a fair counter-argument may be "not good enough to make it worth the loss in sales"

Dumb move because it's going to be hard to prove this even if it is true.

But I think some people itt don't understand that IF some of the owners/front offices colluded to not hire him (e.g. if they had made some sort of deal where none of them were going to take him), then his suit is justified.
