Glad someone pointed this out. It belongs to a genre that is called misery porn, people telling this terrible stories and how the human will can always overcome them. Not to say it isn't possible but in cases like this the financial gain was clearly the motivator and the author can't back up a single thing he's written about, his siblings pretty much consider it a complete betrayal of the family.
