Sorry, my dude, but this particular issue cuts pretty sharply down racial lines. It ain't black people threatning to walk away from the NFL because of politically active black players

the NFL ratings have plummeted since the start of the sitdown allegiance protests. from a business perspective, trump is stating the obvious if the NFL wants to remain profitable.

You'd also have to consider the people who would then boycott the NFL if they did something like this. Some have already boycotted the NFL because they don't agree with how Kaepernick was treated by the NFL.

Did anyone really quit watching the NFL entirely just because a below average QB is no longer employed?

Yes, some have stopped watching NFL because they disagreed with the way Kaepernick was treated

This. It really started when ESPN was the only way to watch MNF. Plus its too expensive to watch football. Live or on TV.

REALLY? you don't think whites and blacks, for the most part, have entirely different opinions on Kaepernicks stance and his subsequent treatment?

Because I can't wrap my mind around the fact that because a few teams that may actually be upgraded at QB by signing Kaepernick won't do so (even though they have legitimate reasons for it), people would choose not to watch a game they enjoy at all even if none of those teams are involved. It doesn't make sense to me.

Is that really a negative though? If they disagree with the team and the NFL as a whole, why shouldn't they let their principles matter more than the game.

Do you think anyone who boycotted the NFL due to them letting Kaepernick keep kneeling makes no sense as well?

26 of 32 teams, at least, would see no benefit from signing Kaepernick without an injury to their starting QB, and have not cut or benched anyone for kneeling during the anthem, so yes, I would not understand that at all.

And yes, I don't understand that either. I don't give a fuck if players kneel if they practice and perform well in games. Marcus Peters hasn't been standing for the anthem this season and it hasn't affected my opinion of him or the Chiefs at all. He's still a great corner and the media I watch and listen to focus on the on-field performance of the team, not one player kneeling.

Unless there's something not quoted in this topic, he didn't tell or even ask NFL owners to do anything. So...

First line
President Trump today called on NFL owners to cut any players who don’t stand for the national anthem,

"cut" means fire basically, getting them off the team, etc..

c (1) :to separate or discharge from an organization

cut them from the team

(2) :to single out and isolate

cut a calf out from the herd

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/cut

That's not a quote from Trump lmao

oh? what is the article about then? because after that first line of nonsense I saw no reason to read further

Do you know how fucking stupid you have to be to not so subtly equate firing someone for say, carrying a torch during a nazi rally and shouting anti Semitic slurs to a guy taking a non violent stance against police misconduct and inequalities within the criminal justice system?

I mean, obviously some view it differently, but I don't know the details of it.

I'm just saying, I don't think it's an issue for people to take a stand against something they believe is wrong. Just depends on if their belief makes sense. I'm sure others could make counter argument against what you've just said.

This is the part everyone seems to forget while blathering on about first amendment rights.
You can act out and say whatever you want to say. That's your right. But not at work. The right to do and say stuff that's against job rules and that may negatively impact your workplace is not protected by anything. There's rules at work. You're a representative of who you work for and if your boss says jump you jump. If an owner says stop kneeling during the anthem and they do it anyway for instance. They can bench then, fire them, fine them, etc. They are protected by nothing. Nor should they be in that instance.

You think it doesn't work that way. Flip off your boss the next time you see him and try and get away with it by claiming first amendment rights and see how that works in reality.

And how does that excuse the fucking President of the fucking United States taking a giant shit on the first amendment? If you're not aware, the President is part of the government. You know, the entity the first amendment protects private citizens from.

Colin Kaepernick is not under arrest by any law enforcement agents in the US, nor will he ever be for kneeling during the National Anthem. None of those NFL teams have to fire anyone just because the president would like to see it happen. They can all tell him to fuck off, and they won't have to worry about being imprisoned.

I don't feel comfortable with harsh social punishments that can impact citizens who speak openly and offensively, but this is, sadly, the current state of affairs when it comes to public speech and actions that can be included as such. Time and time again, we've been reminded by the Left that it's Ok to destroy people's lives if they insult someone else, and that this is not a free speech issue anyway. All right then, they made their bed and now they have to lie in it.
