Why don't you share with us your favorite games of all time? I'm sure we'd be able to pick and paw them apart in ways that don't even make sense relative to how the game is supposed to be played. BotW is a piece of art, and I mean that literally. It's a piece of a puzzle, and you need to form and change the other piece that is your mind to fit with the game's piece. Once you do that, you'll be able to see that this game is another transcending piece of wonder that will forever change how we as people think about games, similar to Night Trap and PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS.

ARIN HANSON of the Youtube comedy team Game Grumps has stated many times that immersion is overrated in video games and has no place in evaluating a game's worth, until he played The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. As soon as he glided down with the gliding tool, he was able to change his caveman-like brain into a puzzle piece that could combine with this piece of art. I believe that if he was able to transcend time and space to this place of love, so can you.

There is a video game called Super Meat Boy. I love it. There is nothing you can do to take that away from me. There is, however, a way for you to take away my love for the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. If you never find yourself feeling the fear of being one-shot sniped by robot fellas while you traverse Hyrule field and feel the cool brush of air while sliding down the snow-capped mountains of Cold Land, I might lose faith in everything I thought I ever knew about design analytics in relation to video games. My knowledge of design analytics and having found no flaws and an abundance of strengths in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is what gives me the strength to love this game. I have not been able to love anything other than my family since my divorce, and if you take this away from me, I might lose the strength to love anyone ever again. I don't know what I'll do if that happens, as I am a Christian, and we are taught to love one another. I need to be able to love, tc.

So finally I call for you - not to be frustrated by the seemingly purposeless mechanic of limited stamina, blocking content off for you until arbitrary points later in the game, and instead - to find the love necessary to bend your mind and see the situation as Link being weak while starting his quest. Slowly he gains strength through his adventures and his love for Zelda. I'm afraid, GREEN BUTTER. I'm afraid that if you can't find your love, I might just lose mine.

is this really not a copy pasta, did you legitimately take the time to type this out

If you complete the Divine Beast Van Medoh first, there should be absolutely no area in the entire game that you cannot reach with total ease. Especially when you factor in the existence of stamina potions, speed elixers, horse riding, and fast travel.

Weapon durability was also not an issue for me. So much so that late in the game I was actually struggling to manage a consistently full inventory.

It doesn't get better.

I tried to tell people when the game first came out. It's good, it's not great and definitely not a 10/10 perfect title. It does open-world well enough, but it's lacking in so many other aspects it's hard to wrap your mind around it, especially when braindead gamers were too busy collecting four pages of garbage and trying to cook it to realize the game was so lacking. The story is the weakest element, which is unforgivable in a Zelda title. Once you've fought a band of enemies, you've really fought them all, so combat comes up lacking about an hour or two into your Breath of the Wild experience. The sidequests are generic and weak compared to what we've come to expect from previous entries. Go take a photo. Bring me this fancy stick. Wow, you did it! Here's 20 rupees. Go spend ten years farming rupees for this house. Annnnd it sucks. Woo-hoo. Painfully upgrade it by doing each upgrade individually in a series of long, tedious and unskippable conversations and animations. Annnd it still sucks. Woo. Fucking. Hoo. Uh-oh, here comes a Guardian! Look, he killed your horse. Better head to the death-has-no-consequences-fairy.

Don't get me wrong. It's a good game, as said. But it's nothing special. It's entertaining, but not memorable. It can kill some time for you, but you won't feel content when you're done.

Remember when CE couldn't shut up about how much they hate Open world games

Well I guess since Nintendo made one they take it back

Probably because Nintendo struck gold with their open world. They seemed to have pinned down what's bad about other open world games: the movement.

Travelling in Skyrim, The Witcher 3, Far Cry etc. just fucking sucks. Walking sucks, the horses and vehicles are barely any better. So you just fast travel wherever. I found myself fast travelling less in botw than any other open world game besides Just Cause. You know what these two games have in common? A hang glider/parachute. Hang gliders are fucking awesome. Especially in Botw, where you can catch sick air from a shield surf down a mountain, then take off on your glider

Anyway, I digress...Botw is a playground with the best toys we've been given to play with in it, but if that's not your thing, you won't like it

I'm tired by uninspired open world games. Like Watch Dogs. Hell I think that game burnt a lot of people.

There are plenty this generation that are not this.

Exploration is better in BotW because you can glean all you need from the information you're given by characters, through visual and audio cues, and by looking at the basic map. No map markers or arbitrary beacons necessary. IMO, the best way to play the game is with is with the HUD set to pro.
