Curious about this too. My reaction is that the pricing it too close for anyone to want the 8. I thought the X was supposed to be this super crazy, $1,500 dream phone made for ~10% of buyers. But instead, it seems like Apple just wants people to skip straight to the X.

Perfectly happy with the 5s and will probably find another brand if they don't bring out another smaller model/upgrade to the 5. I have no need for a phablet and while I don't particularly want to start again in another OS, comfort/ability to use in one hand is more important.

Of course not. I have an S7 Active and it actually has fucking buttons and doesn't break if I drop it. Much better phone.

To be fair, the buttons only trigger a software function so if the device has locked up it doesn't matter if it's a s/w or physical button and if it needs to be reset you can just use another combination of power/volume. That said, I get that there's a nicer feel to pressing a physical button but then you have the issue of mechanical wear and eventual failure.

The lack of headphone jack is irritating but the lightning port headphones isn't so bad an alternative, but the face ID/removal of touch ID is a terrible idea and is too easily exploitable/prevented from working. I foresee a lot of ppl switching back to PIN/passcode out of frustration.

It's more than just that. Do you know how many times I would accidentally hit the capacitive buttons on my S4? Tons. I can't accidentally hit a real button. These take some force to push.

Because Apple. I figured it was because of their desktop OS-they couldn't help themselves by branding everything 'X' and didn't want to wait a year and have someone else use it first.
Also possibly because of the 6 and 7 being very samey and they used it to differentiate the X from the 8 more. Either way, the reason is moot, they just do incomprehensible things sometimes and call it brave or whatever other stupid thing their PR dept comes up with lol

I don't know, honestly. The iPhone 8 Plus seems kind of dull coming from an iPhone 7 Plus but I'm not 100% sold that the iPhone X will be a great phone out of the gate. I feel like there are things about that just haven't reached a solid refinement yet, as though they need an "iPhone Xs" to really stick the landing.

OSX has been out for at least 15 years and they now refer to is as macOS, the rebranding now seems silly

I've been wanting to try an Apple phone but that's a dealbreaker. I literally need a headphone jack on my phone. That would make my $30 android more functional.
