When asked by a crowd member at last weekend's Nashville Wizard World Comic Con if Warner Brothers was working on the Arkham series or if it had plans to expand the existing ones, Conroy said: "You know, I can’t believe that they’re not going to do another one, but they’re not. Isn’t that amazing? It's… they made literally billions of dollars on those games. But, no, there's no plan to do another one. Sorry."

I guess it'll be something with the Justice League next then?

I don't get the Arkham Knight hate. I mean, yeah, the Batmobile sections did seem very forced (I mean... the Riddler sections especially), and there were a lot of them, but overall I still had fun with it. Would love to see another Arkham game, but can't say I'm shocked that they want to move on to new things.

Was there reason to suspect there were anymore games coming? They made it pretty obvious that Knight was going to be the end of a trilogy.

It's a shame that game didn't turn out better. Asylum and City are both fucking perfect. They definitely dropped the ball with Knight. Even Origins was better.

I'd be down for this if every member had a totally different playstyle to the point where when you switch characters it's like playing a different game. give each member a separate "campaign" and you have to play them all to see the true ending

He's been involved in the video game series for like 10 years now. He'd know the process pretty well by now I'd say so I'm sure he knows they're not planning anything right now.

Jim Sterling has many contacts working in the industry and has been involved with sites like Destructoid and The Escapist reviewing games for years. He's also done some voice acting for some inidie games.

Your shit strawman falls short because expecting a voice actor who only gets called in to do lines once most of the game is done is stupid and often times videogame voice actors get no context on exactly whay they're working on to avoid leaks.

I get Kevin Conroy is a bit higher on the food chain than most VAs but in an industry where almost all information is tightly controlled to a megalomaniacal level by publishers, it's naive to expect WB of all publishers to just let him know what's going on at one of their biggest devs or if they did let him go without signing an NDA

Let's start with gameplay. All previous Arkham games allowed real-time gadget switching. But in Knight switching gadgets completely pauses the combat to put you into a screen covering selection screen. Combo hotkeys doesn't make up for this when there's 70,000 gadgets in the game, some of dubious value

Which jumps to the game's general bloat. City already pretty much perfected the gameplay of Arkham. The game was a masterpiece. Thus, for Knight to top City, it needed great level design and enemy interaction. It does the opposite. The only memorable levels in Knight are due to the characters involved, not any actual smart layout. It completely pales to City.

Predator Rooms are awful. There's a shitton of unnecessary enemy weapons and traps like drones that end up being worthless if the player has half a brain. And Batman now has so much shit that he can just hack every enemy into uselessness and Fear take-down five people. There is very little intelligence or real predatory stalking involved. It's a complete letdown.

Similarly, brawling was already great in City and Origins. It's perhaps smoother since its on next gen consoles, but stuff like Medics are just sort of there. After three other games, it's stale, and Knight does not successfully spice things up enough.

And of course, the Batmobile. Leaving aside that Max Cape is probably faster due to not worrying about buildings, they force it way too hard. The issue is not the driving itself but the Bat Tank. It is a completely unnecessary addition that seriously drags the game down by telling the pacing to fuck off all the time.

Side Mission structure is also godawful. Instead of actually creating decent quests, they just made a dart board of villains and gave each villain exactly one gameplay type to preside over. It's stupid. You wanna see what Two Face is up to? *200 missions of bank robbery predator rooms intensifies*

The main story is also totally wasted. They built up Scarecrow in Asylum and City, and finally cast him as a terrifying villain worthy of succeeding Joker as the main antagonist. And they throw it away. Not that I don't like Joker's scenes, which are pretty good and why the game is an any way memorable, but come on. There is one great playable cutscene at the start of the game to set up his fear toxin scenario and then after that he's a meme that just enables Joker.

Dumb cop-out ending is dumb. Although the general ending to the main mission is super good and the highlight of the game. Doesn't save the rest of the game being bad tho

Lol and I completely forgot about Arkham Knight himself because he is legitimately THAT bad. Goddamn.

Can't really call Origins a letdown because there was never much hype for it.

Knight was absolutely a letdown, but still a good game that's worth playing through once.
