They charge tax in states they have a distribution center in. Which is pretty much every state now.

naw, that's not the issue. Arkansas already had that legislative battle years ago, and won/lost (with Amazon pulling out of the state)

they just got tired of fighting court battles over the legality of forcing them to remit sales taxes in states where they don't have a physical presence since states kept passing laws all over the place.

anyway I was just kidding amazon is pretty great. and you can still get their 3rd party stuff tax free!
