Hillary doesn't have a future in national politics. Maybe she should run for Mayor instead.

She's under no obligation to go away, but I'll tell you what... I definitely don't need to read any more of her bitching about Bernie while he's traveling the country trying to build a positive platform for his party.

This. It's breathtaking that with one breath she's bitching about he did irreparable damage to the unity of the party, and then bashes him relentlessly a year after the election with the next.

Then who's to say the Clinton campaign wouldn't have still gotten more votes?

Trump garglers always bring out this argument, and I don't think the realize that yes, Trump would've campaigned differently but Clinton likely would've as well.

According to the contest we did hold, more people wanted Clinton to lead them than Trump.

I think at some point they convinced themselves that Clinton won the popular vote because she was using a "win the popular vote but not the electoral college" strategy, and so it's not fair to compare using the popular vote.

I don't even know why people think the strategies would be tremendously different in a popular vote system anyway. Candidates don't go to states with the most electoral votes, they go to states that are the closest to flipping one way or the other. You would still see candidates campaign in the areas where they have the most room to gain votes. Sure, that shifts around where they visit a bit, but you wouldn't suddenly see all of the campaigning happen in California and New York.

I think it's high time in this country we also start requiring ID's for people to vote. The only reason the Dems are against it because they know they'll be on the losing end of that battle.

But hey, more illegals to vote for them!!!

Sure, I'd get behind that. As long as you make every ID free and make it available to every single citizen automatically.

And not require it be something existing like a driver's license, then close DMVs in minority-heavy areas (like how Republicans do it at the state level)

Also fun fact: No one is against Voter ID laws. What people fight against are the constant and blatant attempts by Republicans to shoehorn verbiage that would purposefully disenfranchise entire groups of people that tend to vote Democrat into their Voter ID laws.

How about we require IDs but do everything in our power to make it easy for people to get those IDs, and do it right now, with extended DMV hours with auxiliary stations to accommodate people with limited travel capabilities and rigid work schedules.

Instead of making a "Voter ID law" that simultaneously cuts polling places, reduces the number of places to get IDs, imposes strict requirements for getting IDs and pass the bill six months before an election?

All you would need is what you would normally need. Birth certificate and social security card.

Not opposed to them being free for the people that do not have a lot of money. Everyone has a right to vote.

Exactly. It's a false narrative that voter ID laws are trying to keep poor people fro voting.

It's not a false narrative when these same voter ID laws close DMVs, change the hours of availability, and specifically target methods of voting that are used particularly by minority voters. I and many other Democrats do not have a problem with voter IDs in principle. We do however have a problem with all the other added clauses that make it harder to obtain a voter ID.

That Trump supporters should stop acting like the American people love him if he's less popular than someone who they say no one likes. Pretty basic really.

But Trump's approval rating is low, no one claims he is beloved

I voted for Trump so I don't have an issue with that outcome. The issue I was getting at is that there aren't any other viable Democrats out there.

“The best thing she could do is disappear,” said one former Clinton fundraiser and surrogate who played an active role at the convention. “She’s doing harm to all of us because of her own selfishness. Honestly, I wish she’d just shut the f--- up and go away.”

I don't think this is really fair considering only the most bitter excerpts from the book have been revealed, and its marketing has made clear that a huge portion of it is going to be mea culpa.

But I do think that, more generally, the idea that being criticized for not going far enough when your opponents are ripping on each others' wives and families is a little silly as a point of blame for an election loss, and I think those sections of her book are less carefully planned evaluations and more personal venting

I like Sanders take on it but I'll go further than him. The whole exercise of the book is meaningless monday morning quarterbacking that has no relevance as to what we do to move forward as a country. Honestly far from explaining how she lost, it is yet another good illustration as to why Hillary Clinton was never a leader in the first place. She is hyper focused on her place in the conversation rather than leading us forward.

I take it as one more payday for the ultimate rental politician. She needed some sort of retirement fund since now I imagine the speaking events are going to be paying her much less.

She was endorsed practically by both parties and had the most one sided media coverage of anyone ever, against a candidate who probably couldn't find the UK on the map and boasted about grabbing women by their nether regions... And still lost.

She lost by 80,000 votes across 3 states, all 3 of which were targeted by Russian hackers. Not to mention getting 3 million more votes total.

That said, I agree she needs to go. She's toxic at this point, we need someone new.
