Don't know how alone I am on this board as a lover of all things classical, but curious as to what else people around here enjoy. I'm rebuilding a Spotify playlist of my favorites.

That's a favorite of mine too. Jupiter and Mars are my personal favorite movements. But I really love them all.

(I'm assuming you don't mean specifically the classical period from 1750-1820)

I feel sort of stupid now, because I listen to a fair bit of orchestal music (I have season tix to the seattle symphony) but I don't like, write down the ones I really like so I can remember them later

This is how it's been for me. It's a shame.

This is making me want to listen to opera. No, I'm not being a smartass. No, I haven't had much exposure, but what I have listened to makes me wish I had the time and money to see more of them.

My favorite opera is The Tales of Hoffmann by Offenbach, and of that I'm partial to the overture to Act III (I think it's called Barcarolle). Give it a listen:

Oh that's a great piece. I'm usually more partial to an operetta myself. That's a very famous one, though.

I'm quietly pulling all of these into my playlist for further editing later.

I'll throw out one I can't stop listening to recently - Enigma Variations, specifically Nimrod.

Well, there's a reason Ives was considered a pioneer.
