I'm in Pennsylvania :p There's a lot of nice forest hikes/camping here. You could probably hike the Susquehannock Trail System for years and still not hit all the trails. Stuff all though the Monongahela National Forest, like the Dolly Sods. Even stuff like the Laurel Highlands Trail through Ohippyle is pretty nice. The only thing you don't get is some of those "Holy fuck" views you'll get out of doing something like the CDT. Which reminds me. It may "add" a day or two, but don't dare skip the Rocky Mountain National Park loop. I don't know why some CDT thru hikers are so eager to bag their triple crown that they would skip a national park.
