Forgot how much they made Light seem like such a pathetic pussy. I loved it.

One thing I didn't get. Did Light or Near kill Mikami? Or did he kill himself?

Himself to give Light an opening to escape. Not that it mattered >_>

I wish he would've taken the chance to kill Near. Hated that little shit

In the manga, Mikami survives the warehouse long enough to go to prison, just to die ten days later. Matsuda actually suspects that Near was responsible, but Matsuda's ramblings aside, the actual cause of Mikami's demise isn't made clear. In the anime, pretty sure he just went crazy/ier and killed himself because he couldn't handle being rejected by his "God". I kinda prefer the ambiguity behind his manga demise, myself.

Watching the Anime right now and Light already is 100x smarter than the Netflix movie.

He set up a trap and fake diary just in case somebody was snooping in his room, and if they did find the secret slot. The death note would burn up. Also he's avoided trying to kill people he knows.

In the movie the Death Note is way too stupid and even defies the laws of physics, even though that was against one of the major rules. Also Light just goes around with it like it's a regular note book and it gets easily stolen too.

I just didn't like the last few episodes because they replaced L with someone that was like L but better and he comes out of no where with no development.

Wonderful in terms of Disney story telling. He ruined a lot of families just because they stood in his way.

Also they don't look at the families he's ruined from petty crimes like thieves. And all the cult like people who are praising him and are likely profiting off of it.

I remember reading a fake manga ending a couple of years ago.
Light runs out of the warehouse and is surprised to see everybody that he has killed. They tell him that it was just a joke, how could he believe in a notebook that kills everybody that gets their name written in it?

He doesn't kill for petty thievery.

Don't kill people or commit major felonies and don't try to catch Kira, you'll live a happy life. Simple enough.

Except he did when he was trying to throw the detectives off.

He also led his dad to his death and gave the notebook to someone who would kill people just for being lazy

I mean, the world of Death Note is just generally fucked up. Shinigami already commit random serial killings to boost their lifespans that's impossible for any humans to prevent. And death notes will be continued to be given to random people from bored Shinigami.

The manga had a way better ending.

Instead of Light running out of the warehouse, he realizes he's cornered and asks Ryuk to write everyone's names in his death note. Ryuk instead writes Light's name, saying how disappointed he was. He says he was hoping Light could manage to make it out of this situation, but this time he couldn't. Light realizes he has only 40 seconds left to live and absolutely loses his shit when faced with the fact of his imminent demise. He's practically on the ground clinging to Ryuk, saying how he doesn't want to die.

There's even a "post-credits" epilogue after the end where we see a couple people in hoods carrying candles along a mountain path. For a moment, I wondered if the pages of a totally different manga had somehow been thrown in, but no. At the top of this little path is a shrine, and one girl puts her candle down and asks Kira for help. It turns out there was now a secret religion devoted to Kira. Light ended up becoming a "god" after all.

I wish they had used this stuff in the anime's ending. They kinda used Light's fate in the second live-action movie, though.

This. Though to be fair, a lot of Death Note relies on a heavy suspension of disbelief to follow. Light's tactics work because the plot says they do.
