I have to go back to boarding school today and it's harder to quickly acquire stuff on the internet there due to how they set up filters

And I'll be there for a full month before the next extended weekend so I need to stock up

I hate reading manga, but the only one I finished was Full Moon o Sagashite. I loved the anime and the manga took a spin that was eye-opening to the series. Let's just say there's a character in the anime that was undermined and in the manga, this character was a whole different entity. It was like "Whoa, wait a minute" ..... and it really hooked me. It's such a sad but beautifully done story.

Shinsekai Yori/From The New World, I want to start over and finish. It opened up on some background of a first episode's incident quite graphically and I thought that was just "woooooow" .... I can only imagine how much more would be in the book from there.

I also came close to finishing Kashimashi Girl Meets Girl but I cannot remember how much I read or much about it. I just know I loved the anime.

Someone told me about one where people have, like, powers where, for example, a girl can see butterflies around someone when they're about to die and stuff like that. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Eyeshield 21 (fun Football manga)
Rurouni Kenshin (classic samurai manga)
Angel Densetsu (comedy, though the art doesn't get good till after the first 10 chapters or so)
Claymore (fantasy with female demonslayers)
Pluto (sci-fi with great plot)
Monster (dark thriller, great plot)
Detective Conan (enough mystery stories to last you a year)
Bartender (very fun manga about...well, bartending)
Ushio to Tora (classic adventure manga with a great story)
GTO (one of the best comedy manga ever written)

I will now bestow upon you my favorite mangas:

- Jin
- Liar Game
- Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Pt. 7: Steel Ball Run

SBR is about a cross-country horseback race, except the participants have strange powers. I guess you could read it as a standalone, but all the JJBR series should be read chronologically, honestly. (Or watched, since the anime's up to Pt. 4.)

Jin is about a Japanese brain surgeon who, through mysterious circumstances, gets thrown back in time to the early-1800s feudal era. Y'know, samurai, warlords, xenophobia, etc. Since he can't find a way back, he sets up a practice and meets various figures from Japanese history, all while putting on a clinic (literally) of amazing medical techniques. It's rather serious-minded, but a fun read, if you like historical/period stuff.

Liar Game is a thriller of sorts about a girl who gets entered into a tournament. The rules: participants are given a huge sum of money and can advance through stages of the contest by bilking others out of their winnings, which makes them incur a huge debt. The MC girl doesn't want to cheat people, and enlists some street-wise cerebral guy to help her advance through the tournament, basically screwing up the shady framework and paying off the others' debts. It sounds kinda lame, but it's pretty fun. (If memory serves, the art doesn't start out too amazing, but improves over time.)

If you're interested in Korean manga (they have some different term for it), try Noblesse and Tower of God. They're both ongoing, but definitely above-average.

lair game is amazing
its fun seeing nao go from scared young women to one of the most dangerous players in the lair game without ever having to give up her morals. she beats the lair game by being honest
she rarely lies and when she does its always for the benefit of someone else.

If it is anything like the anime (which probably is worse), the manga probably kicks ass. (GTO)

Has this been officially translated cause all I can find are really crappy scans. They literally paste the english on top of the japanese text.
