I live here now. If I didn't have crippling fear to leave for whatever reason I'd be gone years ago. Summers are amazing but not worth the 9 months of depression.

Not if I could help it. I hate snow so damn much and all having to deal with it year-round would kill me.

But they have orcas, at least.

No. It looks nice, but if I had to live in the middle of nowhere, I would probably choose some other western state such as Colorado or Wyoming.

I live in Sedona, the lost beautiful place outside of Alaska in the US and I get the isolation and better access to everyday needs, be it rather limited. I'll stay where I'm at.

Honestly, this alone makes me want to go visit Alaska. I've got way too much nostalgia for video stores.

You get Amazon Prime delivery out there?

That alone would make living in an isolated place way more bearable. I've got a friend who lives in deep farm country like 40 minutes from the nearest WalMart and he abuses the crap out of Amazon Prime for all his shopping needs. Seems like it'd be an insane deal if you live in a secluded area.

no, yes

although we do have data caps and our "fast internet" costs a shit ton more than your "slow internet" in the states.

there isn't snow year round. I just moved up here a few months ago, so I have only seen the summer so far but yea, no snow right now. plus I did live here in the 80's as a child. I think I remember it snowed from like October to April or something. there IS a no snow period

also, it doesn't have to be isolated. there are towns. Anchorage is a fairly nice size city, with all the modern conveniences

we've had milder winters lately. climate change is definitely effecting us. leaves usually start coming out beginning of may/late april now. really cold august though, could be an early winter.
