law?

It feels like the government is basically saying, "This shit is so fucking convoluted that you need someone who's whole life is dedicated to understanding it just so you can have justice."

seems unfair.

Same for a lot of financial issues as well

It's impossible for the average person to have a strong understanding of all these issues and/or be able to hire someone who can help them.

And financial analysts aren't required to put your interests first so they can give you advice that will harm you.

That's not the part that I think is really fucked up. I think it's fucked up that we've created an easily exploitable system where a big company can steamroll a smaller entity with a bullshit lawsuit, simply because the legal fees alone to defend yourself will bankrupt you into nothingness.

You need professionals to 'navigate' a lot of things, so no, I don't think it's fucked up.

Guys I found the tools who desire to be screwed over by modern society.

But yeah it's not just the fact that you need professionals to navigate certain things. It's the fact that it is extremely difficult to understand these on your own, hiring professionals may be outside your price range, and even hired professionals or ones you consult with may not even have your best interest in mind.

It is a pretty stacked deck against the average individual. The system is certainly not designed to make it as easy as possible to get help. It can be pretty easy to get exploited in certain circumstances.

Yes it is, and it's worse than that. You're familiar with the phrase "ignorance is not a defense in a court of law"? Of course it has to be that way, law would have little meaning if someone could just say "oh I didn't know" and get off on any charge. But that means you're expected to know the law. Do you? Can you?

Estimates of the current size of the body of federal criminal law vary. It has been reported that the Congressional Research Service cannot even count the current number of federal crimes. The American Bar Association reported in 1998 that there were in excess of 3,300 separate criminal offenses. More than 40 percent of these laws have been enacted in just the past 30 years, as part of the growth of the regulatory state. And these laws are scattered in over 50 titles of the United States Code, encompassing roughly 27,000 pages. Worse yet, the statutory code sections often incorporate, by reference, the provisions and sanctions of administrative regulations promulgated by various regulatory agencies under congressional authorization. Estimates of how many such regulations exist are even less well settled, but the ABA thinks there are "[n]early 10,000."
-Paul Rosenzweig, The Over-Criminalization of Social and Economic Conduct

If a federal agency can't even count the number of laws, what hope do you have of understanding them well enough that you can ever assert your innocence? In a climate like this, every law, no matter how small, is a tyranny.
