Like usually coaches and trainers didn't make it very far professionally yet they know how to train pros to be pros. I don't get it!

They are usually the ones very knowledgeable about something but not skilled enough to be the star themselves.

Not everyone has the physical capability to become one of the greatest. But they know how to train someone who does have those capabilities.

Sort of like an English teacher you may have had in high school or college. Though you may have learned from them, you surpass them and end up publishing a best selling book like Milo Yiannopoulos.
