Most current MGS fans never played the first two games before playing Solid, and didn't need to understand much about them to understand Solid. For a film adaptation of MGS1 they could just condense the MG1/2 storyline into a simple Big Boss trained Snake, turned evil, Snake killed him. Snakes his clone, the end. Honestly you wouldn't need more than a minute of dialogue to give the audience the gist of it. The problem here is it sounds like that's not whats happening at all.
