Absolutely. My current car is certified pre-owned. CPO allows you to get far more car for your money along with the usual factory warranty benefits. Just make sure you do your homework on it like you would for any other purchase.

Buying a brand new car is usually a waste since 20-30% of its value is gone the moment you drive it off the lot. I say let some other guy take the depreciation hit.

First two cars I had were used.
First one was great, cost me next to nothing. Some idiot ran a red light and totaled it though.
Second car was a lemon, I got screwed on that one, and that's what made me buy new for the next one. I've had it for 8 years now and it still works great.

Bought my last car for $1,500. at 120,000 miles
now it's sitting at 210,000 ish and not even leaking/burning oil.

I have probably put 3k-4k into it over 10 years in various repairs

I will say it's probably on it's last limb, I might only get 1-2 more years out of it.

Yep, all my cars I bought used. Though technically the one I drive now was "used" on a technicality since I was always the primary driver and bought it for $10 and other valuable considerations.

I mean if it only goes half as far before finally kicking the bucket, that's really not a big enough deal to offset spending six to eight times as much for it.

My mum has only ever owned used cars. They work well for a good 5 - 10 years, and you can find a decent little work-horse for a fraction of the price you'd pay for the newest model.

I'm glad to see that there's not a huge anti-used crowd on GameFAQs.

I assumed that anyone who drove primarily used cars would be shunned on CE, this was an unexpectedly positive.

Yea although my current car is brand new. I got it last year. All my previous cars have been used and bought through Craigslist. They lasted anywhere from 1 to 3 years. I would always take my grandpa because he was a mechanic for a good 25 years.

I've only bought one new car, a 370Z back in 2010, never again. All of that money could have gone somewhere else. After I paid it off it felt like getting off of child support.

My last couple cars were newer than my first couple and had low mileage, but yeah, I always buy used. I think I have like one friend who bought a new car one time, everyone always gets used.

I've always purchased used vehicles. Insurance tends to be cheaper if you have an older car so effectively you are saving money twice.
