WTF is with the morons posting comments like that on articles and videos about the flood in Houston? Houston didn't even vote for Trump, it was a decisively blue city. Even if it had voted for him, what a stupid and pointless comment to make.

It is sometimes appropriate, but it depends on context.

For example, a ton of people were really glad that a republican was president right after 9/11 happened with Bush's approval rating temporarily jumping to 90%

It sank like a rock shortly afterwards, but certain leaders have certain strengths that play into their ability to handle certain disasters.

In this particular case, though, Trump had nothing to do with it, and many people displaced by Harvey didn't vote for him in the first place.

Except there's plenty of times and reasons where the two are clearly tied together. Not that this is the case with Harvey, but to say there's no political connection with natural disasters simply isn't honest

Correct. Political decisions play a huge role in infrastructure, in response, in a whole number of things that shape the impact of a disaster like this.

The way liberals view and treat the south is how the rest of the world should view and treat them.

A state could lean 50.1% Republican in how it votes and they'd condemn it as a solid red, 100% republican state wherein all residents not only know every single stance every politician takes, but every vote they made too.

Yet by this logic, every liberal in the US should be bashed for being a Trump supporter.

Really @Caution999? That's strange, because in that other topic, when Ann Coulter said "It's just as likely that the hurricane is God's way of punishing Houston for having a lesbian mayor, as it is that it happened because of climate change," what was your response?

Caution999 posted...
It's a shot at climate change.

Full quote for context:

I don't believe Hurricane Harvey is God's punishment for Houston electing a lesbian mayor. But that is more credible than "climate change."

That's how silly she believes climate change is. That it is equal to saying "god's punishment to X"
As per usual, the same people on here get riled up before fully understanding the quote.

So weird how you didn't question her class, or suggest that she didn't have a soul...

She wasn't saying that, though. She was using that logic as a springboard to emphasize how ridiculous (she believes) global warming to be.

That it's similar to saying "God is punishing you" - which she acknowledges as being ridiculous. That's the whole point. That's how ridiculous she believes global warming to be. It's like believing God is punishing someone off the basis of their sexual orientation (which is what she equates this notion to).

Due to the fact her main focus is global warming, and not the hurricane, then I really don't think I will condemn her for her tweet. Personally, I wouldn't have gone in that route, but there's nothing she said that is really that bad.

When you start blaming political figures or people (or who they voted for) for natural disasters- then I have an issue. Much like when people were all over Chris Christie for accepting aid from Obama for Hurricane Sandy. I don't like the guy, but he did the right thing for the people. Some people on the right condemned him for working with Obama, and I think it was overblown, and overly politicized for no reason. Those people that criticized Christie (on the right side) are heartless and trying to politicize something that shouldn't be politicized.
