white evangelicals aren't really focused on being christian, they're focused on being Christian

as in they're sort of an ethno-religious group unto themselves focused primarily on diet white supremacy and anti-lgbt policy.

I mean, Paul Ryan's brand of Catholicism doens't really appeal to a good chunk of minorities. Other denominations probably have similar views, which alienate people.

Christian churches are neighborhood-based and local by nature. Neighborhoods are also largely segregated by race to this day. Can't reach out to someone who doesn't exist in your neighborhood.
