I don't think Danny was in the wrong...his whole business has taken him to having to fight everyone. I also don't think that part was meant to seem Luke was right, I think it was to show that they both misunderstand each other. In fact, no one trusted the other for several episodes. Someone also said they didn't like that Danny just went with it. I think Danny had a great idea...not that he went with it entirely. This got him to the source and he didn't have to go smashing through the front door.
