Recently started watching it with my mom, as it happens to be on Netflix and we needed a new show to watch.

This is actually very, very good and far more niche and subtle than I thought it would be.

Always put it in the same category as Naruto, Bleach, One Piece and anything else too mainstream like the Big 3 are...

Makes me wonder what other brilliant animé I disregarded, that I should not have...

Check out Samurai Champloo and Full Metal Alchemist 2003/Brotherhood.
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is excellent too, but only the first two parts are dubbed. However the third part is currently being dubbed and airs once a week on Toonami.

Always disregarded Champloo, probably becuase of the title... FMA is what got me into other animé after Gundam. Actually recently rewatched Brotherhood, it is on Netflix so I watched it with my mom.

No innate preference for dubs. But yes, Jojo is one of those shows rolling around in the back of my head if I ever feel the need for proper 80's cheese.

Samurai Champloo (iirc) were made by some of the same people who created Bebop, heck even the main characters are voiced by the same people (in the dub at least)

imo, 2>=3>>1 (for the manga at least)

It's objectively one of the best anime there is. I really have no complaints with it. Black Lagoon is a pretty entertaining one too, and it reminded me of it a bit.

Bebop has always been a mainstream popular series known for its quality, but it's never going to be as big as the super-huge franchises.

Champloo's story is okay but its presentation is generally great. Like others have noted, if you enjoyed Bebop, there are some similarities between the two partly because of shared creative.
