Yeah they want to believe Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, and Cubans will vote the same. I mean, the differences between nationalities within ethnic groups are important, but there are really only a few notable exceptions to the "minorities are more democratic than republican" and its generally from immigrants fleeing communist dictatorships (cubans, vietnamese) and these differences go away for second-or-third generation immigrants --- He would make his mark, if not on this tree, then on that wall; if not with teeth and claws, then with penknife and razor. ... Also said by me who has never voted right-of center. Also said by me who has never voted at all. Both sides like to blow smoke up my ass about how they're my friend, but every time, every goddamn time, they're proven to be liars and I'm left further disappointed and disillusioned with the whole process. And after Clinton and Trump? Fuck voting Democrat or Republican ever. Both sides have forever ruined themselves in the eyes of this lower class rube, and now they're the enemy going forward. And trust me, that's hardly a solitary sentiment. Plenty of folks in my low-income apartment complex of varying physical composition either: A. Voted for Trump thinking he cared about the down-trodden. (Mind you, the ones who did this were on the younger side/were voting for the first time.) B. Didn't vote at all because they didn't trust either candidate. (Surprise surprise, this group was comprised of us older ones, many of whom were already burned in the past, by Democrat and Republican alike.) Suffice to say, a new generation of poor voters has learned that politicians don't give a fuck about us, and that's just one batch of lower class folks in one podunk area of Texas, and we're not an isolated case, and our number and resentment grows everyday another job disappears and the lines on our safety nets get severed. I imagine most of you are middle class yuppies who are used to plugging your ears and averting your gaze, but you don't seem to grasp that just because you don't hear these people getting mad on social media that doesn't mean they aren't stewing and festering among themselves all the same and the only identity they're seeing is one defined by class, of "commoner versus aristocrat" the next time any of them show up at the ballot box (if they bother to show up at all). --- Les aristocrates a la lanterne! The Democrats used to position themselves as the party that supported the poor and working class of America, and the demographics overwhelming support that. When they decided to pivot to the party of the non-white poor and working classes, in a country that's over 60% white, they started losing winnable elections. Like in 2014 and 2016. Look at all these identity politics. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!
