TLDR;
Boyfriend and girlfriend were horseplaying on campus, some busybody reports it to the college as sexual assault. Girlfriend says no I wasnt sexually assaulted. College says puts him on suspension. Girl hires a lawyer to clear his name, he gets expelled.

Yeah college culture is pretty toxic right now. Its best too keep your eyes down and not initiate or reciprocate any kind of contact and take online classes exclusively/whenever possible.

The USA today source is about a different event entirely

I think it more likely they just didn't read the links, since that quote is about a completely different event involving completely different people.

tbh, natural result of letting toxic liberalism fester in American universities. It's also part of the reason why the education is worse yet the cost keeps going up.
