Anything I should know before I start?

I've played Final Fantasy 9 so many times and I really want to play it again but I want to give 7 a chance first.

I'll be playing on my PS Vita.

They weren't though. In-battle maybe, but definitely not on the field.

What's the first town called?

Kalm

Enemy Skill Materia can be your best asset early on if you know where to look. Not long after you get to the overworld you can get a skill called Beta from the snake in that lake or whatever. It's a bitch to get but worth it because you can pretty much cheese half the game with it from then on

I have to be really honest here.

I originally played FF VII- FFIX probably around like 2002-2004ish, and ended up liking FFIX>FFVII>FFVIII

Recently in the past 8 months or so, I played all three of them on steam

I think I enjoyed FFVII the best. Then, not sure about FFVIII or FFIX after.

I found FFIX was harder to continue at certain points, but I couldn't figure out if it was because of the game itself, or because I was tired of FF RPGs in the short period of time I played them.

Overall though I had a better opinion this time around of FFVII than the first time I played it.

If you're referring to what I think you are, you were better off leaving it because you get something better later on.

But I mean you are literally a terrorist in the game. Taking 5 Gil is chump change compared to killing innocent people for your cause.

I should clarify. I didn't mean that it was harder in difficulty.. I meant it was harder to keep my attention.

Because I loved FFIX the first time around so much, I'd like to think my attention wasn't kept as easily just because I had just been through FFVII and FFVIII and didn't want to play RPGs any more.

Not sure for sure though.

Oh. Ok then that's not what I'm thinking of.

But I mean he's also a hired hand at this point. He's a mercenary. AVALANCHE hired him, and he only joined because of the promise of getting paid. He wasn't in it for any moral cause from the get go. Maybe Barrett should have thought about the payment more if it was that important to him.
