I've been feeling tired and nauseous for a while now and I missed my period recently. I bought a pregnancy test and went to the doctor and they confirmed I'm pregnant. It's been several days since I got the news and I still don't know what to think. I'm about to enter my senior year in college, I don't have the time or money for this and I'm scared.

I know who the father is but I can't track him down. I met him at Anthrocon and he's a sexy orange and white fox named Fire. But thanks to Mozilla, I can't find anything out about him. I didn't even see his human face and his phone number isn't working...I don't know what to do from here since it's his kid too.

I have so much going on in my life and I can't imagine it crashing down because I need to raise a kid. With college, career, my social life, and activism, I don't know if I can deal with it. I just... I feel overwhelmed that I'm going to be a single mother. I know I'm not ready. Should I have an abortion? What would you do if you were me?

If this topic is serious then you should probably have this discussion with your family. If the father is already being ruled out of the question then any possibility of raising a child is going to come with the support of your relatives. But it would also probably involve taking at least a semester off. Depending on your due date you could possibly finish your fall classes and then take a break in the spring, and if it's your senior year you could finish up next fall or the following spring. But again, that depends on an environment where you are going to have help from family. I don't know enough about you or your situations to really weigh in and this isn't the kind of decision we can't make for you. But I can pray that things will work out for the best.

Thanks for the advice. I'm still waiting to tell my parents. They've been proud of me and how I've been doing in school and I can't imagine disappointing them because of a mistake. My due date would be late March or early April I would think. I don't know if my parents will help me with a baby though because I think they liked the idea of being free after I went to college. I could probably get some financial support but I'll have to get a job too probably...and have to pay for a babysitter...formula...diapers...it's all overwhelming.

I think you should tell your parents. It's better to get it over with and for them to find out from you directly as opposed to noticing your baby bump... right?

How would I even approach that with them? "Mom, Dad, I'm pregnant from Anthrocon" just won't cut it. Do I need to take them out to dinner and drop the bomb on them then? Tell my mom first so my dad doesn't get angry? I'm so lost...

If I go through with this, it's a given that I'll get more protein. I think 1.5 times my normal protein supplements should be fine, right?

I talked to my parents today. I was really nervous about it, but I took them out to dinner at one of their favorite places, some Italian restaurant with vegan options too. They chose the non-vegan options like the chicken parmesan but I really didn't care this time, I have so many other things on my mind.

We talked for a while about other things. Then near the end of the meal, I broke the news that I'm pregnant. I didn't tell them what happened, only that I made a mistake and can't track down the father. They've never been supportive of me being a furry, how could I tell them that I got pregnant from one?

Their reaction wasn't what I was hoping for. My dad got angry with me, telling me how I'm 21 years old and how my life is ruined. My mom was more supportive, telling me that she knows these things can happen and we'll work through it together. Privately, she told me she will talk to my dad to calm him down.

My dad wants me to get an abortion, but my mom doesn't. This makes it so much harder...I have this little person inside me and there's so many reasons to take their life for the sake of improving mine but...I just don't know. The night ended not so well, I'm just happy that I have my own place with Kate so I can give my parents their space.

At least that part is over...
