I see people talk bad about humans a lot on the Internet. But why?

We're relatively pretty nice to each other. There are some shitty things that go on, but for the most part, we've kept it mostly peaceful.

Do you know what other animals do to each other in the wild? Infanticide, rape, torture, stealing, violence... These things are common in mammalian societies. Give any of those species intelligence and power, and they'd fuck everything up, too.

We're just animals. Animals are dicks by nature.

Supremacy amongst the species. If we shit on others when they deserve it, that brings them down, and makes you feel good.

"Fucking up less than other animals if those species had intelligence" is a really low bar to set and not even one we can fully clear

And besides, we fuck up on a global level. When was the last time a species' actions caused a great extinction?

On the whole though, I believe humans are a net positive and if we can survive long enough, we can change the entire universe

Dude, some animals fuck each other up upon eye contact, or just being in the same proximity. We are not like that.

Life is a game of survival. You need food and water. Every animal does. We're no more or less noble than a bird or tapeworm.

From what I've seen...the people who regularly hate on humans usually hate themselves.

They're insecure, incompetent and bitter, so they wish for the world to end and eradicate all humans.

We're a product of our culture, with the gift or damnation, of wisdom, intelligence. Deep down, its all about survival, continuing life.

But, this is a complex question with no real answer. Strive for self actualization. Make yourself a better person and realize much is out of your control.

No other animals kills for sport or greed, commit genocide, kill every other animal for resources, and pollute the earth to make it inhabitable for everything else.

At least in the wild, animals kill for survival.

man ate the fruit in the Garden of Eden and learned right and wrong

and thus he looked at himself and saw his guilt and covered himself

it is just this same thing on another level

man can look at himself and see that his deeds are evil, but animals cannot do this

There are still "happy savages" who live a serene life where adults share skills, there is no preacher vs soldier differences or side taking.

Modern life projects like entertainment are not very productive but are cultural progress symbols that are worthless and cause division.

Genocide. Terrorism. Should I continue?

If you look real closely and examine these things to their most simplest of forms, these things are also products of the needs for survival. The "us vs. them" mentality goes back to ancient humanity's roots of forming identities and bonding with those like us. We are a group-seeking organism. But even then, most of humanity isn't that vicious. We destroy the planet in the name of capitalism, but what is capitalism? It is a function for survival. The byproduct of us siphoning the world's resources is our innate need for survival; an instinct every living creature possesses.

You can't really blame humanity for these things, when A. Animals function in much the same ways we do, they just don't have the intelligence to dominate each other like we do, and B. We are formed from nature. Everything we do is the basic drive of survival. Life framed as anything but a morbid reality is just fantasy. The joke is that none of us are going to survive, not of these animals we seek to protect, not us, not the Earth. The sun will consume us all. Even if we planet hop, we're just repeating a vicious, morbid cycle.
