Anybody else have a customer come in trying to return something that wasn't even bought at your store? And getting pissed off at you because you won't exchange it for a different version of the item?

Had a dumbass lady come in last night complaining that her Android charging cable wouldn't stay plugged into her phone and asked if she could exchange it for a new one. I told her we don't do exchanges, but if she wanted me to take a look at it personally I'm pretty handy and maybe I could see what was wrong with it. She pulls out this old, well-worn, and obviously frequently used cable and hands it to me. I look at it for 2 seconds and just tell her there's nothing she can do about it, it's just worn out. She then insists that she bought it from us a week ago. O_o I told her it's clearly more than a week old, as the plastic casing around the wires and end pieces is cracking, the springs on the clasp are worn out, and it's not even white anymore. Not to mention the fact that she didn't buy it from us because we don't carry a solid-white colored Android cable. For the brand we sell, all of our cables have at least 2 colors (black & white, purple & white, orange & white, or black & green).

She got pissed off, started talking about how she's here constantly, always buying these cables every month because they're shit and they keep breaking, and she's going to come back and talk with the manager the next day.

Frankly, she's right that she's constantly here. She's also a bitch every time. And I'm thinking if she keeps having to buy the same cable all the time, maybe she should try going to an actual electronics store and buying a quality cable instead of a bunch of piece-of-shit emergency cables that gas stations carry? I kinda hope she did come back to talk to the manager, tbh. My manager wouldn't be stupid enough to fall for her idiocy, and would be even more willing than me to tell her to fuck off. XD

Ugh...inconsiderate customers suck, don't they?

I just went out for a smoke. Guy pulls up about 30 seconds later. Whatever, it happens. He sees me smoking as he's coming in and actually says "Don't worry, I'll be quick!" So I set the cigarette down, go inside, and he comes up to the counter with 2 Powerades. Total is $3.20. He pulls out a wad of singles (at least 15 singles, minimum), hands me 3 of them, and then says "I'll just run out to my car and grab you 20 cents." -_-

He spends 5 full minutes rummaging around in his car to find a quarter. Finally comes back in, gives me the quarter, actually waits for the nickel back. Obviously he has no issue about carrying change, so why exactly he was so insistent on getting the 20 cents out of his car is beyond me. He takes his drinks and leaves. I walk out to see my entire cigarette burned away. "I'll be quick" my ass, douche.

Those ridiculous slow-burn lines that are supposed to prevent a cig from burning unattended are clearly bullshit, btw. >_> I should have known better than to let it burn. Should've just put it out the moment he said he'd be quick. It's pretty much guaranteed they'll take forever when they say that.

Maybe not, but that doesn't mean the employee still can't be wishing that you'd wrap up and fuck off sooner than later.

Plus you're inconveniencing other customers who may or may not be objectively better people than you, whom the employee would much rather interact with because they improve their overall quality of life, unlike the slow person.

every customer will blame the employee instead of the customer taking their sweet time

you can do 20 returns and a layaway and thmm and hah about what your going to buy and be at the register for an hour or more and customers will blame the cashier and not the slow customer

Customers who congregate in large groups to spend an hour yammering about who gives a fuck what and blocking aisles.

At Kroger they have a system that tracks how fast you are. If you are slow they will schedule you less hours. So if a customer dicks around they are potentially taking money out of your pocket.

Have I mentioned the assholes that come in and spend over an hour paying the Stupid Tax yet?

Currently have a guy in the store who has put at least $200 into the lottery machine buying scratch-offs. He's not even actually playing the games. He buys a ticket, scratches off the barcode at the bottom and scans it to see if he's won. Then buys another and does it again. And again. And again. Literally 30 minutes straight now with no sign of slowing down at all. Meanwhile, I'm stuck sitting at the counter doing absolutely nothing because I can't leave the register when there's a customer in the store. So I can't go stock the cooler, or straighten the shelves, or check the coffee, or literally anything other than sit here and stare at this fucking dumbass while he throws money in the trash can.

Thank god we have a machine for the instants, though. When I worked at Convenient Food Mart a few years ago we just had a giant display with the rolls and we had to pull and tear them by hand. This guy is annoying as hell, but if I had to do this by hand I'd have already kicked him out by now.

Also the people who come in like 5 minutes after we stop selling alcohol (1:00 a.m. for our liquor license) and get mad that I won't sell them beer.

Bonus points if they say something like "can't you just make an exception this one time???" as if I'm to one who set the rules and I'm just not selling to them because I don't like them. It's fucking illegal, you dumbasses. If we get caught with a receipt for alcohol that has a timestamp of 1:00 or later, we lose our fucking license. And how long do you think a gas station is going to last that can't sell alcohol? But yeah, fuck it, I'll cause our entire business to collapse for your 12-pack of pisswater. -_-

I worked at a Dairy Queen inside a mall, in the dead center of the mall. I got a phone call from someone and they, in an angry tone, asked if we're open because they've been in the drive thru for like 5 minutes. We don't even have windows near me, so obviously it's the wrong store. I told her that you've got the wrong store because I'm inside a mall, so we don't have a drive thru. She argued with me saying that I'm lying and she's going to come inside and get me fired. I said sure, you do that.

One that used to annoy me when I was in that work is how some people think you're supposed to be a goddamn mind reader.

Like they have no self awareness that their extra strong decaf with a half sugar and exactly one tablespoon of milk isn't how I'm going to make your coffee unless you ask for it that way. And then they give you that little exhale snort like "Hah! Didn't you know that?" when you get it wrong.

they need their protein bars now man. when that craving for a mocha cappuccino bar hits you gotta answer it.

i generally dislike customers who only buy bars anyway since they interrupt me playing my 3ds or reading at work as it reminds me i have to do something. If i was in a high volume store i probably wouldn't still work 2 jobs.

yeah, but it sucks to be the people in the other store. trying to convince Raging Bitchface that, no, we didn't just talk on the phone, and, no, I didn't laugh at your wait in the drive-through line is an effort in futility. She started yelling at me about how it pisses her off that I asked that because "you don't care how my day is. It's very condescending and rude to ask that. It's none of your business how my day is." I quit listening, I remember her saying fuck a bit as well. The customers afterwards were stunned.
