Ehhh, this seems like potential for an international maritime crime. Unless pirates attack or attempt to board, you have no legal justification to attack first.

It's a gimmick, the company doesn't actually expect pirates to board the ship and the passengers aren't expected to ever kill anyone.

Cause in reality the boat would get boarded super fast, the ship hijacked, and then the company would have to deal with massive losses from dealing with insurance issues, lawsuits, potentially dead guests, dead crew, etc. They'd be out of business in a day.

It's all smoke and mirrors, whatever ethical considerations you guys are talking about is a waste of time, no one's actually going to get to kill anyone ever while on this cruise.

It's probably a gimmick like others have stated, but another thing to point out is that I think the actual rate of piracy has gone way down over the past 5 years or so. Ships started bringing a lot of armed security, there were increased international naval patrols, and the pirates have been beaten back a lot.
