I'm trying to quit cigarettes cold turkey because I can't afford to get on the patch. I really need to quit because I really can't afford it anymore and it's bad for my health.

This is my 3rd day without a cigarette and I feel like I'm losing my mind.

Any advice you can give me is very much appreciated.

Kratom would definitely help. But then you're just suppressing nicotine urges with other substances. If you were disciplined you'd stop taking kratom once the physical nicotine withdrawals were over.

I'm not gonna try Kratom. I was addicted to street drugs and alcohol before and I was able to quit them. So I don't wanna try any other addictive substances.

My roommate just started chewing gum.

It wasn't super successful, but it must have temporarily worked.

go get a Juul vaporrizer, or a cheap cigalike vaporizer from a gas station if you can't afford that. still nicotine but much less unhealthy compared to cigarettes.

I'll give the fruit stripe a try first and then pick up a cheap e-cig if I have to. I really don't want more nicotine though, but if I have to, I have to.

The way I quit was by analyzing what the withdrawal was actually feeling like.

I would feel so uncomfortable, but couldn't pinpoint what the feeling really was. Almost like an emptiness

But after I'd think about it, it would go away...dunno if that's just me or what.

I quit cold turkey earlier this year.

One thing that helped me a lot would be a get a mint, go outside, and stand there sucking on for about the duration of a cigarette.

Another similar thing is to take a straw with you outside and puff on that as if it were a cigarette. Just going outside where I normally smoked and doing something mundane helped a ton with the cravings.

Those e-cigs from the gas station that are shaped like actual cigs suck so bad. I doubt they'd help you, they sure as shit didn't for me.

I quit by keeping an empty pack with a note to myself taped on it in my car. So anytime I'd go to buy a pack I'd look at it and think about it, then walk back inside. I also ate a lot of junk food and gained a few pounds when I was particularly jonesing. After a while the cravings subsided.

I picked it back up a few months later at a party tho. :-/

Quitting myself.

I've used gum and a fidget spinner. One thing that's help is to treat each craving individually. Just deal with em one at a time as they come.

I'm gonna try my hardest and quit. I have gum here at the house so I'm chewing some right now and it's helping some. I'm not gonna buy an e-cig if I can help it. I really wanna kick this habit for good and that's only as a last resort.

Dumb question but what's a fidget spinner?

Just a little thing you spin. Looks like this

It's a nice thing to mindlessly play around with. Get a fidget cube too to supplement it.

I manage to quit cold turkey. I mean I would suggest keeping your mind occupied, even though it can seem difficult because you can drive right to a store. With cigarettes I wouldn't suggest eating more because your metabolism is going to be shot for a while. Don't know.

I'm trying my best to keep my mind occupied but it gets hard to fight the cravings. And I'm trying not to eat more then I usually do. I don't feel like it tbh.

Sorry just looked up Kava pills, is it like a supplement for sleep or something? If it's addictive I really don't want any.

It's not addictive in any form. It's sort of like if you crossed weed and benzos, took out the addictive qualities and dialed the potency way down.

I walked down to the gas stations and bought some more gum and some mims. Also bought that fidget spinner thing. I've been keeping busy here on amefaqs on my phone and playing some mobile games as well.

The cravings spike here and there but keeping busy is helping me keep busy. I might take a hot bath later tonight if I start feeling restless again tonight.

Thanks for all the help, CE. Anybody ever needs help with anything just let me know and I'll do my best to help in anyway I can.

Good to hear you're getting rid of the last substance you still use. Yeah if you've had substance use issues definitely don't try kratom.
