Basically tag in if you are someone that finds yourself watching more competitive gaming (and the genres).

If you can, would you mind explaining reasons why e-sports seems to have your attention right now, as well as the physicla sports scenes you did/do follow

Im looking for people that were actually sports fans at one point, so not if sports were never really much your thing

And if the opposite happened (started e-sports, now more sports more), chime in as welll on what happened

I used to watch hockey all the time. Still do, though not as much. From the Toronto area so following the Leafs is pretty common.

I watch a few esports, though more League of Legends than anything else. They do a good job with their esports scene.

Why do I watch it? My guess is accessibility. Anyone with a half way decent computer can play LoL (most esports really) for free. Real sports cost money. Equipment? Money. Joining a league? Money.

I used to watch the odd DotA game years ago. But I never followed e-sports despite being close to legitimately going pro.

Was just more entwined with my interests. Only sport I've ever played was high school football, and even that only amounted to one actual game of varsity play because of yearly accidents (leg broken sophomore year due to a fuck up at work, halfway through junior season received two knocks to the head that I stupidly attempted to power through because fuck concussions, and senior year lost my balance while doing squat maxes and fucked my back up). So there was pent up frustration there that soured my viewing enjoyment of college and pro football. I have been starting to watch more NHL lately, though.

My interest in the professional gaming stuff started when I learned it was a major thing for Brood War, and after that set things off to make pro gaming a spectator sport in general along with the advent of Twitch, it's basically been my main source of viewing entertainment.

My main problem with e-sports is the way they're presented on most websites. The actual video game is often covered by unnecessary score tables, stats, and worst of all, commentators. They also cut to the commentators way more than is necessary (once is one time too many tbh).

Makes it really hard to get into it.

I grew up watching basketball, tennis, and hockey, being a huge fan of the Lakers, Pete Sampras, and the Kings respectively. I also played sports a ton until college--mostly soccer and basketball--during which I eventually moved to weightlifting. Liking e-sports came naturally, since I always loved video games and Street Fighter was always around in arcades when I was younger.

Like a lot of people, it was Daigo vs. Justin Wong that officially got me following competitive gaming.
