Overated even for its time, terrible a.i. and having to pause mid gameplay is terrible. I still give it a 7/10. Go watch a mercenaries high score and half of the video is the item menu adding the time.

Kill Switch and Metal Arms Glitch in the System were much better 3rdPS I will never get the infatuation with RE4 even the story was shit. RE4 is what FF7 is for RPGs mostly considered babies first....

RE4 SPOILERS

RE4 is the most overrated game in the world. Why everyone thinks it's so great is beyond me. The game is full of broken mechanics you can abuse to make it a walk in the park even in the hardest mode.

The enemies run towards you and stop right before reaching you and then they walk slowly giving you enough time to do anything....the A.I. is a joke for the enemies.

Not being able to change your weapons in real time is also terrible even for its time several games allowed you to do this....go watch a YouTube of mercenary mode the ones with high scores and I guarantee you they pause more than 20 times.

"Hey guys there's a ton Ganados coming after me. I'll just shoot one guy in the face and then do a devastating AoE roundhouse kick that will knock everyone away from me(while make me invulnerable). While they're taking their slow ass time to get back up I think I'll seal their fate with my knife"

How about the fact that the knife and pistol is already one of the most powerful weapons in the game? In fact you could clear most of the game with just these two weapons.

And because you're not using your other weapons and ammo (because you're lol pwning with the knife) you can then sell them and buy even stronger and upgrade them to blow through the bosses. "Hey guys there's a ton Ganados coming after me. I'll just shoot one guy in the face and then do a devastating AoE roundhouse kick that will knock everyone away from me(while make me invulnerable). Even on hard mode the game is a freaking walk in the park. Oh let me just run by everyone and yeah my pistol+knife combo is OP and if you ever think you can get close to me then say hello to my grenades or shotgun lol. Oh and so much ammo and healing items I think I will just sell most of that crap and upgrade most of my useless guns to make my guns even more OP.

Top down cameras are the way to go actually, but that's also a really dumb reason to hate RE4 I'll give you that. RE1-3 are far superior but 4 is a great game of a different genre

Hard to say. KI U has some fucked up controls (to the point where they added a stand-up piece) but I'll admit everything else about the game was great

i mean what makes RE4's controls bad? having to stop to shoot is the only thing i can really think of, but even then that isnt inherently bad. the game was designed around that style in every way. its controls are damn near close most other shooters now. left bumper aims, right shoots, right stick control the aim. x while aiming to reload ect. the only real difference is because you cant move while shooting the other analog stick doesnt get much use which can feel a bit wonky at first, but its easily gotten used to.

That and how Easy/simple Ashley's AI is for an escort mission

I had that same feeling about the Spiderman 2 game for the Gamecube. I loved it when it first came out, but I tried it again recently for like 20 minutes and just put it away. Some memories are best left as just memories.

I thought 'tank' controls are like a tank in Atari. Like turn with the sides, and go forward with up, back with down, and not changing as the character moves from a fixed camera (like re 1,2,3,CV). RE4 just makes you stop to shoot, but you can aim more than up, down, straight to shoot.

If you mean tank controls as stopping to shoot, well look how well that worked in RE6. Thing about RE6 is it could have been really good too.
