The game that could have been an all-star roster of characters from every Fire Emblem world to date turns out to Awakening vs Fates. YAY!

It's funny that Smash Bros. has a wider variety of FE characters than this one (granted, not by much).

Though, the character selection for vanilla Hyrule Warriors only took from OoT, TP, and SS. DLC and another version added from other games in the series, so maybe the same will happen here?

The devs already said that the cast would mostly come from Shadow Dragon, Awakening, and Fates.

If there's amiibo functionality (which there should be, given that both Chrom and Tiki are getting amiibo), then you can also expect Alm, Celica, Roy, and Ike.

The difference between these two is that Zelda doesn't have a lot of characters to pull from. FE has literally dozens per game. And limiting themselves to three games, especially when those include Awakening and Fates, is a huge slap to the face to longtime fans. You know, the people more likely to buy a game like this.

And HW caught some flack for its character selection too, which is the main reason Legends for the most part got its shit together.

Literally every character in Smash Bros is in Heroes including male and female versions of Robin and Corrin as well as Chrom even though he only appears during Lucina's final smash. The only character that wasn't in the game from the start was Ike and he was one of the first new heroes added.

And also EVERY FUCKING FE SMASH CHARACTER IS A SWORD USER

This pretty much guarantees a no buy from me. Quit pushing these shitstain characters on us all the time. I am done with seeing Lucina, Chrom, Xander, Ryoma, Robin, and Corrin. Give us some Path of Radiance, its sequel, Echoes, FE7, or even some games not released in NA.

One thing I've noticed is that for all its talk about equality between the races and how important they are to the plots of Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, there are no Laguz units in Heroes.

reminds me of dynasty warriors 2 where you had like 6 guys(liu bei, yuan shao, zhang jiao, sun quan, dong zhou and sun jian) all use the same moveset

Probably not. Look at the DLC characters we got for Hyrule. Only one of them was from one of the "three games"

It's amazing that game somehow managed to survive to get to Dynasty Warriors 3 which was fuckmazing. DW1 was bonkers, and DW2 was a cool idea but just kind of fell flat. DW3 was crazy good.

Pretty sure FE Heroes is really meant to appeal to the "waifu" crowd and there aren't any good laguz "waifus". I mean, I can't really see any of the laguz drawn in the heroes artstyle.

That's simply not true unfortunately. The majority of the FE fanbase is relatively new to the series.

I don't see how they can keep out Tellius characters. I mean, I can understand just having Roy or Eliwood, but Tellius has the Laguz, adding a much wider variety.

But yeah, they should at least have Tharja for playstyle diversity, and Gaius could be given knives instead (even though there are no knives in Awakening) or at least a very short sword to emphasize his nimbleness.

Well, Heroes doesn't even have a unified art style. All the characters are drawn by different artists.

We also got another fucking Link and Tingle, neither of which are not that far removed from OoT.

That said, the only relevance HW DLC has to FEW DLC is how they'll likely handle releases. As I said before, character selection is a hugely different beast in this game than it was in HW.

It's amazing that game somehow managed to survive to get to Dynasty Warriors 3 which was fuckmazing. DW1 was bonkers, and DW2 was a cool idea but just kind of fell flat. DW3 was crazy good.

it was kind of unique at the time thats probably why. really like the first 3d beat'em up with 20-30 characters on screen at once. plus it had dian wei moving fast. i miss that

Honestly, that doesn't surprise me. Nobody over here knows of the Japan-only FE games that weren't remade later. Sacred Stones is pretty unimportant to the franchise as a whole, the Roy/Eliwood games were a long time ago too, and Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn didn't sell all that well, IIRC.

There's also only 4 units from 9 and 1 from 10. Laguz will probably make it in eventually, but the pool from the Tellius is really small right now.

Depends on what kind of waifu mechanics are worked in. Hyrule Warriors worked items in, it wouldn't surprise me if they do something with supports.

Dynasty Warriors 4 or 5 (or maybe Empires or something... one of them) introduced a 2-player thing where if you were playing Co-op, you could team up with your partner and both use your musou abilities at the same time and it would turn into a double super ultra musou thing that mostly wildly missed and didn't really do much but it looked flashy cool.

They might bring something back similar for Fire Emblem Warriors.
